Roger Vivier is highly fashionable lately. And not because suddenly everyone remember that he invented the stiletto heel, but because the celebs are wearing anything-Roger Vivier.
A simple documentation would tell you that Roger Vivier is now a shoe (and accessories) empire started by a French designer specialized in shoes, Roger Vivier. (don’t miss the Haute Couture Collection from Roger Vivier right after the jump!)
He opened his first store when he was 30 years old, he created shoe-sculptures for royalties and rock stars (Queen Elizabeth II, The Beatles) and was the house shoe-designer chez Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro.
Signing for Roger Vivier is now Bruno Frisoni (since 2002) so the infamous silver buckle shoes are now the Hermès Birkin of shoes among celebs.(the silver buckle shoes were made for YSL and worn by Catherine Deneuve in the movie Belle de Jour, 1967).
Bruno Frisoni carried on the iconic tradition of the sculptural shoes and his latest collection for Roger Vivier Haute Couture is truly amazing. Not entirely wearable, but that’s the charm of Haute Couture.
This collection is called One is Too and the starting price is $13,500. Each pair of shoes from the collection can be inserted into a buckled crocodile snakeskin platform and attached with an elegant silk bow to make it more Middle Age-ish. Which one is your favorite? I prefer the shoe worn by Catherine Deneuve its still classic looking the others look like sculpture to be displayed rather than to be worn. But since there is to be a “Sex in the City Movie” sequel, I could mos def see Carrie running around in any of the floral ones. : )
I find these shoes a bit hysterical. Not to speak about the price! I prefer the classic YSL shoes worn by Catherine Deneuve too. But in my view you’ve to take care wearing these to not look middle age-ish.
