Gimme Shelter!

Every now and then we’re bound to turn to the world and see its suffering. Because every now and then, a powerful voice reaches out to us and we take that detour from our daily ways.

Our friend, Adriana, was my powerful voice. My wake up call this time. She sent me an email asking me if I could give this action some time. And so I do, sharing it with you. This is my Friday break today. My break from my daily routine and my blissfulness, the moment I turned my eyes on the world. On that part of the world that Ben Affleck and Sit Mick Jagger are trying to highlight in their UNHCR’s Gimme Shelter campaign short film. It’s about refugees. It’s about help.

Kpriss, thank you so much for rewarding my “Serious Request”. I was inspired by my fave radio channel in my country Radio 3FM. For the fifth time this year 3 dj’s play music requests for money. So for every song you request you pay for help for the refugees. Or just donate and nothing in return. Money for a very good cause. This charity-event is called “3FM Serious Request” and for 6 days the dj’s do not eat, they do drink of course and play 24/7 music, entertain the audience and “sleep” in between. Some years ago 2 dj’s from Radio 3FM came up with this great idea. And now its the 5th time. Last year Belgium took the idea over. Which was a huge success too. And now Malmo, Sweden and even Nairobi, Kenia(!) are trying to do the same thing. Collect money for the desperate refugees world wide. Every day a well known popular Dutch artist visit the dj’s to support them throught the evening and night. They stay over and don’t eat either. All to try to get money to help the people like we see here in Ben Affleck’s short movie. Which has been showed for free and requested here for money yet.

The dj’s stay in a house off glass and can get out off there. “The Glass House”. Everything is visible besides the small bedroom and the bathroom. Its on tv 24/7 too.
The last night world’s best dj of this and last year, Armin van Buuren, will be their guest. I hope he’s going to make the big-bang and the money will come in. Its quite a stir and a great vibe despite the recession but until now the money comes in. It does inspire lots of people to get creative with all kinds off ways to collect money and then they bring it the “The House of Glass” which is moving to watch but lots off fun too since people come up with unexpected and crazy ideas.

So I hope that people who watch Ben Affleck’s movie realise that despite the recession we still have a shelter. We still can eat and drink and dress up. We’ve more than we need, recession or not! So if you haven’t see this movie watch it. And let your heart speak.

Thanks to all people in the world who do something for another human being who has nothing even its just only donate a few $’s or €’s. Of course this can be a homeless person in your own city too……..
I don’t know, how can I, if this will safe our world but if we do nothing, their will be no change ever…..never ever….

Lastly, please rate the video, make it visible you’ve took notice…..

Thank you.
