It must be some kind of trend – undressed beautiful women between sheets. This time it’s Ebel Fall 2008 featuring Gisele Bundchen.
Besides her scared deer look, forced pose and unnatural arm position, if I buy that watch and see that it’s not glowing like the one from this ad print, I’d feel betrayed. What kind of clients are targeted by this kind of advertising campaign? Women looking like Gisele? Women wanting to look like Gisele? Men wanting their women to look like Gisele? Men loving Gisele’s looks? I’m puzzled. Help me out here! What would it be?

It could be ALL the reasons you mentioned.I have seen this watch and it does seem to have a certain glow.Expensive of course.
“scared deer look forced pose & unnnatural position” lol what are you looking at? All I see is someone natually lying in bed. Me think there’s something else behind your false description of her pose.
This makes me think of that old Michael Douglas movie ‘Falling Down’. A man who gets complete out of control. At a certain point he demands in a McDonald exactly the same hamburger they show on photos. Of course such a hamburger is not available. We all know, they are not that tasteful as they look like on the photos. I eat maybe once a year a cheese-burger. Then get nauseous in ten minutes and promise myself never to eat one ever again.
I don’t know why I thought of this reading the article and seeing that ad…..
Kpriss, sorry I’m not very helpful but this scene from ‘Falling Down’ comes often to my mind lately looking at most ads….I do not get out of control luckily but I don’t buy less magazines due to all the ads I’ve to consume. I do also wonder why people do ‘looking forward to the new ad-campaigns’? For things they can not even afford?
I would go with natural and relaxed for this ad more than scary faced Gisele… I give in to the aesthetics of this Ebel Ad, but I remember the best ads ever for watches in my perspective ran under the slogan “Don’t Touch My Breil!”… A question of taste…
Dolly – it sure looks like it to me too – the money glow allover it!
Adriana – it may be exactly the window shopping syndrome. You look at things you can’t really own and just have your say..
These ads from Ebel with the gorgeous Gisele, are meant to be enjoyed. It is not often that you get to enjoy the presence of a lovely lady such as Gisele with a luxury watch. Very nicely done!
