2013 Met Gala: Sarah Jessica Parker Giles Dress, Philip Treacy Mohawk Hat

Remember earlier when I said something about already picking out my favorite celebrity walking the Red Carpet tonight? Well here she is, in all her punk splendor: Sarah Jessica Parker!

Surprised? I know it’s fairly unusual for me to praise SJP’s style as I used to be tired of the overhype surrounding her persona, but she manages to make some spectacular fashion choices, especially for official events like this 2013 Met Gala!

Sarah Jessica Parker Giles dress was busy enough to call it anarchic but the real show stopper was biensur the Mohawk head piece as designed by Philip Treacy!

When they were talking with the various famous people attending tonight’s fancy event about what was the most punk-fashion thing they’ve ever done, Mohawks and safety pins were on everyone’s minds. Well, after seeing Miley Cyrus spiked do for tonight and this outstanding piece worn by SJP you’ve seen pretty much every and all daring punk heads of the 2013 Met Gala (the Mohawk head piece was based on a design from Treacy’s latest collection, the one that sparked a lot of controversy for being runway-ed by black models only)!

But wait, it gets better! Not only did Sarah Jessica Parker matched a tall Mohawk with a crinoline dress (parted by a dramatic leg slit, nonetheless), but she was also wearing a custom pair of boots made by the Louboutin master himself! The tartan print of the velvet tight-high boots was reminiscent of the punk Brit era everyone only ties to Sid Vicious’s type of rebellion.

Thank you, Sarah Jessica Parker for being a true fashion icon and daring in every style way tonight! The Met owes you big time!

That ‘thing’ on her head? What’s that? Promo for a Gladiator sequel?
What has happen to her face? Please no close-ups….
