Nicolas Ghesquière Became a French Chevalier

Word is that Nicolas Ghesquière has been honored by the French government.

And he did not received the ordinary congrats from the French officials but the title of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters.

Nicolas Ghesquière
That’s quite an achievement for the London-born Balenciaga designer and the title is supposed to have been handed by the boss himself, François Pinault, owner of the Balenciaga parent company.

Felicitations, Nicolas! Bonne continuation!

Kate Moss for Longchamp 2008

Bright colors and urban shimmer. Kate Moss is pulling another Longchamp on us. Even with her new hairdo she still remains the public face for the Longchamp handbags.

I love the bags they picked for the advertising campaign, but what do you think of those shiny leggings believed to be the next it? (besides feeling in the mood for biking ?)

The Most Beautiful Tree on Champs-Elysées

As promised, I checked out the Paris Sales and I found that my favorite view in all that Paris under sales-siege was, surprisingly, far away from fashion and having nothing to do with price tags.

Take a nature break alongside Champs-Elysées and forget for a second all those fantastic sales and incredible deals.

L’Oréal to Take Over YSL

I like to think of myself as a non-brand consumer. Meaning that I don’t necessarily have to have big names in my wardrobe to feel well dressed or flashy tags in my cosmetic case to feel beautiful when using the products.

Ysl Touche Éclat

However, I cherish one beauty product for some years now and when I came across this news, I felt a bit betrayed. Why? Because my so-special product is no other than the YSL Touche Éclat radiant touch, the mythical wonder illuminateur beauty pen! And discovering that it may become a L’Oréal product, in fact, was not easy. Explaining my reaction to this economical more than fashion-beauty news would mean lecturing that consumerism-dip-in-more-becoming-world. And that would be so long…

L’oreal

Anyway – here’s the splashing news – $1.68 billion deal was offered to YSL Beauté Holding by L’Oréal. There’s no news yet on how the offer was received or if it was accepted.

What do you think? Joyfully expecting to find YSL in your regular store? Or taking a step back in front of the scary perspective of commerce giants taking over our little pleasures?

The Ultimate Treat for Your Pet – Chateau Poochie Spa

What a mindless heartless person you would be if you wouldn’t pay attention to this article! Oh, dear! We live such special times for our special little friends!

It’s the Ritz of dogs! Chateau Poochie (Pompano Beach, Florida) takes care of your pet! And what care: bottled water, flat-screen t.v., webcam, social hour, personalized monogrammed linens and fitness center. All that for $87-$109/night. Your pet friend deserves it, right?

For that kind of money, even I deserve some special treatement! I had no idea dogs needed flat screen t.v. or webcams! Without mentioning the social hour! (is that a fancy name for walk in the park? Or it’s a psychiatrist appointment, in fact?). You’ve gotta be in some special state of luxury to afford this pampering style for your pet!

What do you say? Money for nothing? Or your pet friend is worth every penny?

It’s Fashion Time to go Green with Wooden Accessories

It’s time to go green. If fashion has a conscience, then we should obey to it! Natural has never been so right before!
So dare to wear wood! It’s natural, it’s “in” and will make you look unique (not to mention it will make you feel in peace with the environment even if you don’t drive a hybrid car).

Would you wear wood? (hereby some examples – Port 1961’s Wooden Clutch by designer Tia Cibani, Dsquared2 necklace and Ishraya Cuff)

Gucci Limited Edition Spring-Summer Olympics 2008 Collection

It’s an Olympic year – Beijing is hosting the Olympics 2008. For the occasion, many commercial clocks start ticking. One of them is Gucci.

The Gucci Limited Edition for the 2008 Olympics is called 8-8-2008 and set to be released on January, the 28th, featuring 8 exclusive accessories with a sporty bent and mostly China red painted.

Gucci 8-8 2008 Collection
The Olympics kick off on August 8 and 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture, this is the meaning of Frida Giannini’s Collection.

My favorite is the Gucci Bicycle ($3.420). Besides the oversized bag, everything looks incredibly ugly and extremely high priced (take for instance the mahjong – $3.150 or the watch – $1.415).

But that was my opinion! What do you think? The collection sounds good but tastes bad? Or sounds good and tastes excellent?

Isabella Rossellini Defends Italy

Appearing in a government advertising campaign, Isabella Rossellini urges Americans consumers to
“Let yourself be charmed by an Italian.”

Isabella Rossellini is a myth. She represented Lancôme and worked for quite some time in the fashion industry.

Living in America, she’s well known for her honest speech. For instance on
“all these stereotypes about spaghetti and meatballs, which we never eat in Italy,”

However, as an official representative of the Italian Government, Isabella Rossellini went national in recommending a name completely unknown outside Italy: Cristina Bomba. We’ll just wait and see what the future brings us, maybe an Italian Bomba…
