Smiley Bicycle – Moritz Waldemeyer’s Joyrider

How about you take your old bicycle and improve it? And not with just anything! With smiley faces!

Here’s the Moritz Waldemeyer’s Joyrider. What it does? It’s quiet simple – it creates illuminated smiley faces on the wheels of the bicycle when rotating (by clip two electronic devices onto wheel spokes; the electronic devices emit led light after measuring the rotating speed so the final result is the illusion of stationary smiley faces; the electronic devices were auctioned February 27th for almost $4000, money going for a ICA Fund donation).

Friday Break – Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Monty Python’s Life of Brian

I hope you’ll like this at least as much as I do! Today’s break is a song from the film Life of Brian , The Meaning of Life (Monty Python).

It wasn’t planned or rehearsed; the ending scene was a bit boring so Eric Idle started this song. Everyone liked it and decided to keep it in the film. Because the words (mostly due to the low quality of the video) are not always obvious, I decided to give you a little hand by posting the lyrics (right after the song). Enjoy!

Posh in Vogue UK April 2008

And when we thought the brits were off Victoria Posh Beckham, she turned the table with a Vogue UK cover-story.

And what could she be talking about if not David and fashion? About how life with a footballer can be so inspiring and supportive and how she has joined a gym but can’t attend mainly because she can’t bring herself to wear flat shoes. How interesting! And I thought after all this time she would have had her own gym at home. Hm. Then she’s not so obsessed with her own person as I believed.

Victoria Posh Beckham Cover Vogue UK April 2008Anyway, the photos (since we have to agree, the story isn’t quite the 8 o’clock news journal) are, they say, 1940’s inspired. Bringing a modern version of My Fair Lady Eliza Doolittle to life, as seen by Cecil Beaton (to me it looked more of a Greta Garbo inspired posture, but better look and have your say too! I searched some of Cecil’s work and when coming across this photo it seemed more appropriate than any impersonator of Eliza Doolittle over the years, especially not to Audrey Hepburn), Victoria seems a bit groomed than her usual posh self.

Of course, there will be many to say that she looks every inch a 40s diva and many to ask Audrey who? preferring the Beckham Lady to My Fair Lady. Read more…

Eva Mendes Starts her 34th year Shopping at Calvin Klein

Maybe there was some truth about Amy Winehouse “Rehab” saying no-no-no! Eva Mendes took down the rehab road and hasn’t gone too far…

When getting out of the put-together-own-self-place, she found out she got kicked out of the Calvin Klein fragrance contract (or so they say…). She made it all better with a shopping (gift) session at Madison Avenue’s Calvin Klein. How she celebrated her 34th birthday? Buying grey clothes (sweaters, scarves, dresses, turtlenecks) “My new spring color is grey.”

Well, it’s not like I can’t see why all got grey for Eva, but grey for Spring? Not only you’re getting out of the CK perfume contract (if that hasn’t been done yet), but you’re also likely to get every stylist from NY to Siberia pointing at your dull-outfitted-self.

Mert and Marcus Pictures for W Magazine

We’ve seen so many ads over the years and I still can’t put my finger on the exact moment when the lack of expression has become an artistic expression above them all.

These beautiful, colored pictures with young gorgeous women (for the sake of that reality byte, I won’t call them models. They “model” so much in this photo shoot that calling them by that name is pleonastic) and yet so inexpressive.

Victoria’s Secret – No More Sexy Back

Some commercial ways seem truly beyond my understanding. Victoria’s Secret was hardly the sexiest lingerie brand on the planet.

Now the breaking news is that even that allegedly sexy-thing is going to be erased from their trimmings. Let’s be honest, besides putting on some good stage shows and most of all contracting some of the most known models (and healthy looking, first of all), the products are far from bursting the lust proportions.

No Gisele Bundchen Collection for Dolce and Gabbana

There is still hope! The rumors about a possible fashion collaboration between Gisele Bundchen and D & G, other than her catwalk-ing for them are completely untrue.

She issued a statement expressing her joy at the thought of a launching party for her collection at Dolce and Gabbana even if there was no collection to celebrate:
“I have been so grateful to participate in their campaigns and runway shows and look forward to a continued relationship with them in this capacity.”

Avril Lavigne Abbey Dawn Collection at Kohl’s

As if finding style-offending clothes was a problem! Avril Lavigne has discovered her inner designer and, behold! she’s unleashing it!

Abbey Dawn is “a juniors lifestyle brand” (am I losing something here? What’s a juniors lifestyle brand? Emphasizing lifestyle..?) programmed to see the store’s light in July (for the back-to-school usual frenzy) and to renew its featured designed pieces every 60 days. So not only the monster’s head gonna pop up! it’s regenerating himself! What a glorious future ahead!
