All The Rage From BlackBook Magazine October 2008

Every now and then I find a little BlackBook pictorial incredibly beautiful. And not just because of its aesthetics, but because of its speech.

This October BlackBook fashion war looks appealing to me. Fighting with trends and designers in an endless war against seasons and economy itself, fashion grows in rage. It’s not all chic and poetry in fashion and I love to see a little bit of struggle even if it’s just a photo shoot. Some pictures have it, others don’t, but where that style violence is present, the picture looks alive. I share these pictures not because famous models were involved. Just because somewhere under all those layers of fabric and metal lies a strong story. At least that’s what I thought. You tell me if I was right! (via)

Behold, The Calvin Klein Furniture Line!

Already into bedding and tabletops, Calvin Klein takes the next step towards furniture design. And retail.

And just like the clothes, the Calvin Klein Home Furniture line is clean, classic without unnecessary design risks but without leaving a strong impression either. There will be two collections available simultaneously: one that goes to Macy’s and one that doesn’t. The CK furniture retailing through Macy’s has three coordinates: City, Weekend and Destination. The highly sophisticated collection that won’t sell at Macy’s is called The Curator. Both furniture collections were received in awe by the critics. Maybe because it’s about Calvin Klein, the brand, and not just because of the furniture’s design, which I find rather dull (except for the leaf bed from the first picture). How do they look to you? Nicole Kidman Elle US November 2008

Elle US goes Wonder Women. With Hollywood women. (now, why do they see wonders only in Hollywood women, that beats my logic! Maybe because shallow journalism sells? Oh well, who cares anymore these days?)

Covering this Wonder-ful Women issue is Nicole Kidman. I’m not a fan, you already know that. Because I simply don’t believe that writing a piece about something unworthy can make the author more virtuous. I write about things I really believe in, things appealing the common sense and objective logic, in respect for my readers. So, that gets me back to Nicole and how she doesn’t usually impress me. Well, this time she did! (more photos after the jump)

Paris Hilton’s Fairy Dust

Paris stubbornness to present herself as a princess or fairy tale-ish character eludes me. There she goes again, Tinkerbell-ish, promoting yet another one of her products – her fifth perfume called Fairy Dust.

Because Paris sells. Because Paris deserves it and because Photoshop can do magic! Her twisted, artificially elongated torso continues with endless legs, Guiness Book of Records-worthy. Call me an unbeliever but I just don’t remember that fairies worn metallic gold bandeau, a blue scarf to hide out the essentials below the waist, metallic blue straps up the leg from ankles up to thighs all topped with peep toe white shoes. No, I refuse to give in to this new image of my beloved childhood fairies! Do you believe in fairy Paris? (and her magic scent?) (via)

Jourdan, Eden And Rosie Cover Vogue UK In November 2008

Haven’t they learned anything from Vogue Italy? Even so, let’s say it’s not deliberately a black minority on the cover of November’s British Vogue!

Let’s say it’s a pure act of promoting the fresh UK fashion: Jourdan Dunn, Eden Clark, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (photographed by Emma Summerton). The next faces you should look after. But don’t they look like stuck in a box? Like trying so much to fit in, to squeeze themselves in-between those lines, titles and huge red banner? Jourdan’s so natural and beautiful like that! Edie and Rose? What can I say? take away the eyeliner and the mascara and you won’t know them from a girl on the street! Do you like this Vogue UK cover? (photo via tfs)

Animation Break – Big Buck Bunny!

Today I thought about animation. Because you loved the last one so much and found it so inspiring, here comes another one.

Sourced by my loving husband (again), this Big Buck Bunny animation is made by the Blender Foundation and it’s a follow up for a another animation project named Elephants Dream (but it’s dark and mechanical, somber and couldn’t ever be eligible for a Stylefrizz break). The Big Buck Bunny on the other hand, is funny, perfectly innocent and fit for a Friday break. Hope you’ll enjoy this one at least as much as you loved the balloons!

Stephanie Seymour In French Numéro 97 October 2008

There are models. Then there are supers. Seems like Stephanie Seymour aims for another level of superness – The Seymour-ness!

Also, I have to point out that the supers go black and white for almost every single photo shoot. To me, the black and white photography is like the royalty of photography. Can’t do better, can’t go artsy-er. The cover isn’t that seducing, but the inside spread is completely breathtaking, even if I completely dislike the nails jewelry she displays on numerous pictures. It’s not about being thin, it’s not about being flawless (even if, for her age, Stephanie is uber flawless). It’s about having an attitude, something extra-model-esque. Stephanie Seymour doesn’t present clothes, she constructs herself with the clothes she wears. Take a look and tell me what’s missing from the new model generation and what’s keeping them to reach superness! (photos via tfs)

Gisele Bündchen Ipanema Sementes – Seeds Ad Campaign

After militating for the conscious use of the world’s water, Gisele Bündchen goes green with her Ipanema Collection.

The Ipanema 2009 plastic sandals collection goes for the SOS Mata Atlantica, a program supporting the gallery forest (the vegetation surrounding rivers and streams), still water related because this forest participates in the protection of water. Gisele and Grendene (the mother company of Ipanema and Melissa) have developed a special project with SOS Mata Atlantica – each Ipanema sandal sold will help plating 25,500 saplings from 100 different species (15ha of Brazilian Atlantic Forest). (more pictures and the promotional video of the campaign, plus the making of right after the jump)
