Tilda Swinton Blackbook September 2008 Photos

I’m continuously troubled by Tilda Swinton. And so is everyone. The only problem is that nobody dares to ban her unconventional self.

She’s by far one of the most original persons promoted in the media. And she shamelessly knows and takes advantage of that. I think, after all, that this is her power – she reigns, just like the Blackbook article said. Tilda Swinton reigns on the shallow and superficials just because she knows her power lies in their amazement. (more images after the jump)

Tilda is the kind of man-woman, woman-man who enjoys being goth because she can’t do girly. That’s understandable and simply great because she’s a woman who embraced her looks, who didn’t tried to be different just because she’s not fashionable. She molded fashion to take her looks into consideration and thus she became a style icon. A fierce one, I giver her that, but nevertheless someone who’s being followed! How do you look at Tilda? How does Tilda look to you? And what’s your favorite Blackbook image? (I completely fell for the Rodarte flying dress and the Ferretti eagle like black dress)(click thumbnails to see larger images)

I ADORE Tilda! She was great in “Orlando” and she embodied Jadis the White Witch in “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe”, (which was one of my favourite childhood books!) and I am so looking forward to her turn in “Burn after reading”! She has a style that suits her and has an odd beauty. She sort of brings to mind for me, Katherine Heburn, another women/actor who dressed the way she wanted and lived the way she wanted.
As for the spread I love all of the dresses and shots! : )

Stunning!
I love this woman.I still haven’t gotten over ‘Orlando’.
She’s like the New Vanessa Redgrave and god knows we need more of her in Hollywood.

@ Ellington, I like what you stated about the comparison of Tilda and Katherine! Yes, thats a good observation. Both women does fascinate me and I love them both for all the good reasons. Strong characters, special beauties, very talented.

I go with Kpriss with my choices for the shoots because I can’t see Tilda’s face on the other ones.

This is the first time I hear/read about “Blackbook” and I’m very fascinated with that line left under on the cover:
“Patti Smith Takes Paris”. Thats my heroin! I’ve “met” her some years ago very briefly and at first I acted like a stupid teen but that was over very quick. Such a normal down to earth woman. And she rocked the hell out of the audience!! And she’s so brave….but that was not the topic….oh well on the other hand, Patti does dress and lives the way she likes too!! A real non-conformist.

I think Tilda is a genius actress and lunatic dresser. But I agree with Kpriss that she certainly knows how to be a fascinating, attention-getting non-conformist, and works what she’s got with flair. And she looks really lovely in the BlackBook cover shot up there.
