WANT, The Anti Retail Experience

Special times need special measures. The University of Washington’s Environmental Design class experiment with a new kind of retail experience: the anti-retail.

Trying to convince us that saving money through retail is a possibility, the Washington University Students have issued a “Do You Really Need It?” campaign, imagining a virtual store with virtual clothes.

Each t-shirt has an economic-healthy message on: Swap clothes with your friends to keep your wardrobe fresh; Buy and sell your clothes at garage sales and so on. Should there be classes with economy-safe “Want” courses? (via)

Jennifer Lopez Wears Samantha Thavasa Scritta Bags

Celeb involvement is a marketing strategy. Samantha Thavasa Japan is another proof that the sweet sound of cash gets a maximum ca-ching when advertising with the celeb.

Beyonce and Solange Knowles, Penelope and Monica Cruz, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Tinsley Mortimer – all have been featured in ad campaigns for Samantha Thavasa. And more or less, they’ve all been involved in designing a Samantha Thavasa bag. (the story continues right after the jump! Don’t miss the gallery with pictures from Samantha Thavasa ad campaigns!)

Lindsay Lohan By Hedi Slimane Vs. Mert And Marcus

Interview Magazine’s February Issue featured an interesting article with Lindsay Lohan. (no, I’m not in a Lohan-phase, but I came across some new pictures of her and I wanted to bring out the similarities between the new discovered ones and the famous Interview photoshoot our friend, Adriana, told me about a while back).

Interview‘s interview was conducted by Lauren Hutton (I doubt it was her who really worked the questionnaire) but the pictures were stunning.

Photographed by Mert and Marcus, Lindsay was no more LiLo, she wasn’t breathing gossip through her every pore, she was something else. Revamped by Mert and Marcus, she really looked good! (the story continues after the jump! Don’t miss the gallery with Lindsay’s pictures by Mert and Marcus and Hedi Slimane!)

Pixie Geldof’s Furrrry Disaster At ICA

Mind your own sheep, Pixie, don’t take it out on us! Style wunderkind Pixie Geldof (famous for being famous and having a famous father) takes a sheep and turns it into a full flavored fashion disaster for the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.

Then again… I may have spotted this at Ikea the other day! In the rugs department! I do hope Pixie was wearing some kind of anti-flea collar or bracelet! For everybody else’s sake. Feel sorry for the sheep, however! (photo via)

Matthew Williamson About His H&M Collection

I can’t get enough of talking about Matthew Williamson for H&M. At least not until seeing the actual collection hitting the stores (and trying it myself).

Any details about what inspired, how and at what drove Matthew Williamson to his H&M collection are more than interesting! Especially when they come from Matthew Williamson himself (and no, sadly, there’s no mention about the price!) Can’t wait to see the ad campaign (with Daria)!

Did I told you what my favorite pieces are? The bluelectrified suit and the print floor-length dress with the leather jacket! Absolute stunners! (and think I was resentful about this collaboration when I first heard the news!) (via)
