Donna Karan Fall Winter 2009 2010 Ad Campaign

…Meanwhile, in Fashworld, new advertising campaigns are on the way, insulting our vigilance with misleading images like Donna Karan’s Fall 2009 ad campaign.

Featuring Toni Garn (and Karlie Kloss’ back) in a runway setting, like we were warned it would be, the new Donna Karan ad print looks a bit fishy. I may not be a desktop publisher par métier, but my passion for altering images (in a funny way, like Christian Audigier wearing a Victoria Beckham dress) makes me point in the right direction: if this Donna Karan ad campaign comes straight from the catwalk, then this should not be Toni Garn. Michael Jackson Was Human After All. And Now He’s Gone.

Though millions have already watched and participated (in spirit) at/the Michael Jackson Memorial Service held at the Staples Center, no matter how hard I tried to avoid getting all emotional and giving in to the headlines, I just couldn’t.

Call it a mother’s sympathetic feeling for a family’s tragedy, call it a fan grieving the loss of a truly magical artist, I just had to let it out. (the story continues right after the jump with a video from the Memorial Service)

Miley Cyrus Does Elle US August 2009

Miley Cyrus wants to be taken seriously. So much that she’s willing to put herself in the line of fire by showing (too much of) herself in a women fashion magazine: Miley Cyrus covers Elle August 2009.

Miley, widely known as Hannah Montana sprung some serious controversy when doing her last “serious” magazine spread (remember Vanity Fair by Annie Leibovitz?); a year later she’s back, ready to raise more eyebrows (photographed by Carter Smith) as she puts on a Rodarte dress or a Wu jacket. Lacoste Limited Edition By Fernando And Humberto Campana

Design is always a tricky business. Especially when over-logo-ing a piece of whatever (in this case a piece of Lacoste). Esteemed designers Fernando and Humberto Campana worked around the Lacoste logo and the outcome is rather interesting (to say the least).

An alligator shirt? Who would refuse? A white polo with plenty little green alligators looking like bugs all over? Who wouldn’t wear such daring design? (the story continues right after the jump with more images!)

Christian Audigier Doesn’t Like Victoria Beckham’s Collection

Tattoo t-shirts king Christian Audigier doesn’t like the designer in Victoria Beckham. Or more specifically: doesn’t approve to the lack of designer in Victoria Beckham.

For someone who is bent towards loud prints with complicated tattoo features it surely must be hard to understand simplicity:

“I like her, she is a nice girl, but she is not completely my style. I have seen some of her designs – they are very simple. It’s difficult for an artist or a singer to enter into the world of fashion […] You can’t just rely on your name to help you sell. The way to sell and who to sell to and what you want to accomplish, these are all things you will need help with if you’re entering into the world.”

And when you were putting your name on a bottle of wine, you’re relying on the colors to sell it? Or on the Ed Hardy/Audigier label on it? (via, photos via 1, 2, photochopping courtesy Stylefrizz)

Rachel Weisz Does UK Harper’s Bazaar August 2009

An Englishwoman in New York. She wears black velvet on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK August 2009, Rachel Weisz must be the alien Summer cover of the season!

Even if she raises her voice against the American “blow dry and immaculate groomin’ thing” she seems to have developed quite a mimetic blow-dry quality while living in New York. Still, Rachel Weizs prefers the English girls style and Botox-free actors (and she’s doing Harper’s because she has a movie coming up, of course). I wonder if that emerald look has been photoshopped (because her skin surely received serious enhancement to end up looking like that vintage Gucci China)! (via 1, 2)

Cindy Crawford Does Vogue Spain August 2009

Unquestionably a Super, Cindy Crawford shows everyone that you can wear your forties like nothing at all, flaunting her womanly curves in the pages of Vogue España August 2009.

She may not look (as airbrushed) as many models or actresses (or any other celeb doing a magazine cover), but Cindy still got it! And we shouldn’t try to minimize her fashion influence. Instead of pointing out that she’s not in her 20s anymore, we should all respect the natural human becoming of a Supermodel now a gorgeous 43-year old woman with an iconic mole and a bunch of super fash-memories! (the story continues right after the jump with more pictures)
