So How About Layers This Spring?
March 30th, 2011 by kpriss
Yesterday I was trying to convince you there’s a ballerina thing going on strong in fashion right now. And today I stand by what I said, backing it with even more dancing – themed fashmanifestations!
Take a look at Old Navy‘s latest ad! It’s a layer thing. a Layer Player jingly thing! I love the fresh approach and the active feeling I get while watching this 30 seconds video! It’s refreshingly unfussy. I’m not much of a layers girl, but I can see a change coming soon! Do you think layers bring more sparkle in the clothes you’re wearing? What does layering mean to you? Kate Moss Vogue Japan May 2011
March 30th, 2011 by kpriss
Kate Moss is covering Vogue Japan‘s May 2011 issue in a time of distress for Japan. Which makes every gesture and appearance pretty special. For everyone. Of course they did not know this was going to happen when they shot for this issue, but Kate makes a certified gold cover anyway.
Hoping that the pictorials inside are more optimistic and lively than usual may prove to be irrelevant at this point. Kate‘s Mert and Marcus photographs have a strange look, something reminding me of a basement confined glamour (bonus the now so trendy ballerina trend). But that’s just me. (you have some samples from the inside pictorial with Kate, do please weigh in! you can click here for the gallery!) (Vogue Japan via)
Gemma Ward Huge Artsy Portrait
March 30th, 2011 by kpriss
Talking about Gemma Ward earlier got me thinking I forgot to show you one of her last performances. And no, this time I’m not talking (too much) about her theatrical exploits (which, it seems, were well received by the public and critics alike). This time it’s about a painting.
Gemma Ward was posing for Matt Doust. An American born artists who operates out Perth now. Intrigued by, he said, “just the alignment of every feature on her face”, Matt Doust performed this huge artistic portrait of Gemma and submitted it to the 2011 edition of The Archibald Prize portraiture competition from Australia. However, if you’re curious about Gemma’s theatrical skills rather than her posing attitudes, right after the jump you’ll find not one but two videos: one from the premiere night of her play (The Ugly One) and the other with Gemma herself at a press conference about the above mentioned play!

You must see it right away! It’s a four minute trip to wonderland! Happy Hump Day everyone! Have an amazing week! (Steve V via)
Pirates Of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides Mermaids Photoshophell
March 30th, 2011 by kpriss
I’m looking forward to the new episodes from the overwhelmingly charming Disney franchise Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides! I’ve been talking about it ever since we found out that lovely Gemma Ward was part of the adventure.
She’s starring as one of the unearthly beautiful mermaids. And speaking of mermaids: a new poster for Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides is now available: with three mermaids (none of which is Gemma, but we can only hope that will be soon fixed). And from what I can tell, the POTC mermaids have special twisting abilities. Notice the brunette’s head? Talk about mermaids turning heads, eh? Maybe it’s time the Photoshop people the step back and get some real women instead? just saying… (photo via)
Lindsay Ellingson Gorgeous Victoria’s Secret
March 29th, 2011 by kpriss
Run for cover! Michael Bay has another Victoria’s Secret ad in the works! Looking at the behind the scenes video with Lindsay Ellingson and a room filled with men while she’s strolling around in underwear I get the chills on my spine!
The industrial look of a fashphoto or video session creeps the living style out of me and I keep wondering how these girls manage to smile and act authentic with all the scrutiny going on in the room! I have to ask, though – there’s no explosion? The apartment doesn’t blow up? Not even a teeny tiny vase? I’m so disappointed right now Michael Bay! (frowning and disapproving)
Rob Lowe’s Confessions Vanity Fair May 2011
March 29th, 2011 by kpriss
Have you seen the last episode of Modern Family? Because if you did, you’ll see just why I brought Rob Lowe up! Vanity Fair May 2011 cover star is 47yo Rob Lowe, all shirtless and gloriously talking about his early career.
Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, chilling under the Royal Wedding title with a hint of Civil War, Rob Lowe “Confesses”. Did the guys from Modern Family had any hint that this was coming up? Because, need I remind you, Mitchell just “confessed” that, growing up, he had a crush on Rob Lowe! What a coincidence, really! (oh, and yes, this was a pretext to remind you all to tune up to Modern Family! It’ll brighten up your day / evening / night!) (also – you can check out the Vanity Fair story online here)

The Gentleman Bible. After Tom Ford
March 29th, 2011 by kpriss
Regardless of his orientation, Tom Ford continues to be a very praised gentleman in any woman’s eye. He has somewhat built this flawless image of himself, projecting an indisputably fashionable gentleman in the public’s eye. And the image, my lovelies, as we all know, is what sells.
Tom Ford wants to sell the gentleman. And he wants the women and men of the world buying his version of the gentleman. And he’s almost there – so for a better understanding of his vision, he’s now teaching us what a true gentleman is and what he does. Ladies, take notes, gents? you too! (the fragments below are from an interview mr Tom Ford gave to Jefferson Hack for the Spring / Summer 2011 issue of Another Man Magazine; Photographer Jeff Burton)
1. You should put on the best version of yourself when you go out in the world because that is a show of respect to the other people around you.
2. A gentleman today has to work. People who do not work are so boring and are usually bored. You have to be passionate, you have to be engaged and you have to be contributing to the world.
3. Manners are very important and actually knowing when things are appropriate. I always open doors for women, I carry their coat, I make sure that they’re walking on the inside of the street. Stand up when people arrive at and leave the dinner table.
4. Don’t be pretentious or racist or sexist or judge people by their background.
5. A man should never wear shorts in the city. Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach.
