Prada Black Suede Platform Sandals, My Favorites This Season
April 1st, 2011 by kpriss
If you’re looking for a collection that you can name the it collection for Spring Summer 2011, then Prada is the house to look at! Their Spring Summer 2011 collection is a stylists favorite and now, one of the shoes they shown in the SS 11 precollection is my favorite sandal for (at least) this season!
I love the suede upper and heel, there’s something royal about the look of these platform sandals, something that caught my heart way beyond the spell of the YSL Tributes I was under for some time already. A bit pricey, however ($750 chez Prada) but already available knock offs provide a valuable alternative to consider (right after the jump you can take a look at one of the alternative I came across. And you can also see Caroline Sieber, stylist extraordinaire, impeccably wearing the above mentioned shoes). What would you do? Save for the original or trust a more affordable knock off? Chanel Spring Summer 2011 Catalog
April 1st, 2011 by kpriss
Did you even know there was a Chanel Catalog to begin with? Well I learned that today – that Chanel has its own seasonal catalog which showcases the maison’s ad campaign for the designated period.
Karl Lagerfeld photographed the house’s ad campaign, so there’s no wonder Baptiste Giabiconi is in it! Also playing in “A Summer Day in the South” are Freja Beha Erichsen, Stella Tennant and Ines de la Fressange. And by this, my daaahlings, we infirm the non written rule of style: don’t wear couture to a garden party! It’s so… natural! Chanel in the woods! I’ll remember that for my next backyard party! (via)
David Bowie The Jean Genie
April 1st, 2011 by kpriss
Now let’s get back to our original rock’n’roll, movie-ish breaks! Actually, with David Bowie you don’t even need a movie to start with, the man is epic enough on his own!
So here’s to a wonderful, amazing weekend, I hope you’ll have a great time, rest or just enjoy your weekend in the best way you can! Keep it fashionable and be true to yourself! Enjoy David Bowie’s Jean Genie! (more info right after the jump!)
Arizona Muse’s YSL Manifesto Spring Summer 2011
March 31st, 2011 by kpriss
Have you seen the last YSL Manifesto? The Spring Summer 2011 issue features Arizona Muse, the big model thing right now. With an interesting soundtrack signed Janelle Monae (oh, how I love this girl and her music!), the new Manifesto is based in Marrakech.
Though it wouldn’t normally matter, especially with the video being black and white and Arizona making rounds around a palm tree. Round and round and round again! Changing her clothes and not much the scenery, the video is interesting. And intense. Not. I’d much rather look at the images instead. Especially since the double bag has been updated and it looks just as gorgeous! Also: hope the video won’t make you dizzy from all that spinning and spinning and spinning… (photos via)
Kate Moss McQueen Tribute Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2011
March 31st, 2011 by kpriss
Another day, another Kate Moss cover! No, seriously, this time it’s big! Harper’s Bazaar UK has Kate Moss on the cover (the issue has two covers, and Kate is on both of them) of the May 2011 issue. And there’s a perfectly good explanation for that – an Alexander McQueen tribute issue!
Photographed by Solve Sundsbo, Kate Moss is wearing a gorgeous ruffled dress on the newsstand cover. A dress you may remember. Somewhat. Ghostly. It’s the same dress Kate was wearing in the new legendary hologram feature she did in the Fall Winter 2006 Alexander McQueen Fashion Show. Such an ethereal moment! One of my favorite in fashion. Ever! The second cover, however, is radically different, miles away from the first and from Kate’s usual style. (the story continues right after the jump with larger images of the covers)

Being A Designer: Rick Owens
March 31st, 2011 by kpriss
Not long ago I wondered how on earth Karl Lagerfeld managed to do all the things he does: designing collections for multiple labels, taking pictures for various occasions (fashion magazines, ad campaigns), reading, socializing (maybe?), talking a walk (more of a show off, actually).
Today I came across a series of interviews conducted by Diane Pernet (you may remember her from ASVOF) with various designers. I’ll include Rick Owens’ confession about designing below (because his interview was the one that lead me to the other interviews) and hopefully, if you’ll have a positive reaction to this, we’ll include more in the future. It’s up to you! (via)
People say “how can you do so many collections?” and stuff, it’s not that hard, I just don’t do anything else. I don’t socialize, really, I don’t go to parties, I don’t do anything, I just work, but that’s my favorite thing, so in the end that’s fine.
How About Kids Wearing Aviator Sunglasses?
March 30th, 2011 by kpriss
I made no secret of my passion for Aviator sunglasses over the years (and the articles). You know me well and, by now, you know how I like my shades. At the same time, however, motherhood has a strong grip on my fashionista self and the reality roots it has spread into my stylish alter ego cannot be denied.
In short: I found these retro Aviator style sunglasses for kids. I’m not saying they look unattractive! Au contraire, I think they’re perfectly tuned to the latest trends and fashappeals. And as much as I treasure my sunglasses and the protection they offer, I’m having serious second thoughts about shades for kids. Do they even need them? Why didn’t we had shades growing up? Would you make your kid wear sunglasses? (Gap via)

Gisele Bundchen Does Numero Tokyo May 2011
March 30th, 2011 by kpriss
Since we started talking about Japanese fashion magazine, I have to mention Numero Tokyo, the 46th issue, May 2011. Because the first thing you’ll notice about this magazine is the very cover.
Gisele Bundchen went brunette with a heavy frizz factor on the cover. Working the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2011 look, Gisele is way out of her usual league which wouldn’t normally bother me if she could really pull the job. And she doesn’t. Visually flawless, the cover lacks life and sparkle. I wonder if I’m so used to seeing Gisele with blond hair that I can’t feel this Numero at its full power. What say you? Which Gisele do you like? (more images right after the jump, click here for the gallery!) (Numero via)
