Olivia Wilde’s New Haircut

Remember we talked about this hair trend last year? The Bob, my daaahlings strikes again! This time with Olivia Wilde! The new Hollywood darling has chopped off her long locks and opted for a more active, more in the “now” hairdo.

Although very similar with her old haircut, Olivia Wilde’s new haircut sweetens her look and also gives it a young, modern twist. I’m more and more inclined to do the bob myself! We interrupt (again) our usually quiet Sunday for a special fashion bulletin: the adorable Sandra Bullock was seen wearing an Alexander McQueen black tuxedo and looking amazing while doing so! This happened at the Red Carpet premiere of her latest movie (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) in New York, December 15 2011. We missed you on the Red Carpet, Sandy!

During this exciting but also challenging time of the year (January depression, anyone?) you might find it interesting to know that you can go get pampered in some very select SPAs of which even supermodels approve!

So if you’re in New York, try the Townhouse Spa praised by the likes of Doutzen Kroes (they have a website here), in Los Angeles try the Burke Williams loved by Eva Longoria and Hillary Duff (website here). I have nothing but sincere admiration for Angelina Jolie (or her stylist) for such a consistent style! Not only Angelina is keeping her color palette to a minimum (black, gray, white) but she’s also favoring the blouson dresses with every single occasion she can! Especially on the Red Carpet.

I don’t know about you, but I’d call that personal style! And it’s so hard to come by these days (on the Red Carpet, especially)! Angelina Jolie was wearing a gray pleated Elie Saab gown (apparently from the Spring Summer 2011 collection) to the 23rd edition of the Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival. She was there to support her longtime partner, Brad Pitt, who has received the “Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award” for Moneyball (have you seen it yet?). We interrupt our usually fashionable weekend for a very important news break: Beyonce finally gave birth just few hours ago! Congrats to the happy parents! The delivery was a scheduled C – section (so no real surprise there) all natural at the Lennox Hill Hospital, NY and the baby girl’s name is (so far) Ivy Blue Blue Ivy Carter! UPDATE: the baby girl’s name is Blue Ivy and the official statement said she was delivered naturally at 7lbs!

I’m puzzled! I though we already talked about Bottega Veneta’s ad campaign and who was representing for the Spring Summer 2012 advertorial season.

To my surprise, I found out that Liya Kebede is also doing the maison’s campaign for the next season. I may not entirely like the pose or the picture’s angle, but I definitely like the girl! Don’t you (I wonder if this too was taken by Jake Pierson – it’s colorful alright, but I dislike that cramp pose so much!)

Although under the movie radar, Sienna Miller kept a high social profile being considered (still) one of today’s most fashionable young ladies. As such, Sienna enters our radar with rumors of her latest “do”: She’s pregnant with her (and boyfriend Tom Sturridge’s) first child. Ladies, be warned: this year’s must: pregnant belly!

So we were watching this movie last night and my (fashion trained) eyes (I’m such a modest gal! really!) noticed something that would’ve normally slipped through with no fuss whatsoever! What’s Your Number was the movie in question and the scene that caught my eye was the main character’s sister trying on her wedding gown.

At Priscilla of Boston. Why was that a trigger for me and in what way it interested me? Well, in case you weren’t aware, Priscilla Of Boston recently shut their doors. And doing this with boutiques full of bridal wear (designer bridal wear, mind you!) wasn’t something that “corporate” wanted to do. So they emptied out their stock. No – no – no! This was not a flash sale, closed doors warehouse sale! Nooo! They took the entire merchandise out in the back alley of the store and they spray painted the immaculate white wedding dresses (some of them in the vicinity of 5 figures price tags)!

Apologies and explanations followed from the officials of David’s Bridal (the parent company of Priscilla of Boston) saying that this was an isolated event and the graffiti treatment was only applied to already deteriorated dresses that couldn’t be taken to charity. But that they’re doing the right thing with the remaining stock. Frustrating much?
