Johnny Depp, The Sartorialist, Garance Dore Receiving CFDA Award

Unexpected? Johnny Depp, as we said earlier, is pretty revolutionary when it comes to giving life to his characters, so it’s well deserved (well, maybe they should’ve mentioned Fashion Icon Award for Movie Roles or something, but hey, it’s Johnny, he can get away with anything as far as I’m concerned!).

Also, The Sartorialist and Garance Dore will receive the Media Award (in honor of Eugenia Sheppard, the priceless journalist who invented fashion gossip). Tommy Hilfiger is up for The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and Marc Jacobs is up for Womenswear designer of the year, among others. So … The Sartorialist and Garance are just gossipers, in the end, huh?

No, you didn’t miss out on anything – Charlize Theron, although a new mother, wasn’t pregnant – Charlize adopted a baby boy. The reports keep mum about when the happy event took place and don’t reveal much about the baby. Except that his name is Jackson. Congratulations and blessings to Charlize and little Jackson! There’s something about Mad Men. Something that drives everyone mad for Mad Men! The very successful TV Series which will premiere its fifth season (that stands for five years of shows) on March 25th 2012 has inspired the fashion industry in more way than we’d be willing to admit.

(why? Because fashion is always about fashion, duh! Not about celebrity and certainly not about TV! If you hear someone saying that, know right from the start that he / she is a complete fashion snob. Now, back to Mad Men!) Tom Ford Eyewear has reportedly issued a very special collection of frames for women and for men. The frames are made of gold plated metal and water buffalo horn at the temple tips and on the front. The $2,950 frames come in a leather case inside a Bakelite box in which there’s a certificate of authenticity, a cleansing cream and chamois cloth. Compliments of the house!
