Pink Dress Code For The Met Gala!

As I’m counting down the hours until the Red Carpet magic event that is The Metropolitan Museum’s 2012 Gala, I can only daydream about the gorgeous gowns we’ll see parading up the stairs of the prestigious Museum!

Here’s a little hint from Anna Wintour herself who allegedly wants all her Vogue editors to wear pink for the night.

Since the news about Raf Simmons’s appointment at Dior, the eyes and ears of fashindividuals kept open for every piece of news regarding the designer. I know we already talked about the Summer 2012 edition of i – D magazine with pregnant Julia Restoin – Roitfeld on the cover, but did you know that this i – D issue has no less than eight covers?

I know, it’s a bit too much, but what’s fashion without excess? Besides, Raf Simmons as styled by Olivier Rizzo and photographed by Willy Vanderperre looks so pretty and summery and artsy all around! I’m looking forward for the inside goodies as well as the other six remaining covers! (aren’t you? These two i-D-ed so far are dreamy!)

For no specific reason other than cuteness overload, I’m bringing you the double cover of Elle China June 2012 with Lv Yan (you may find her name spelled as Lu Yan also, for obvious reasons – wink). Talking about Versailles… There’s either something Royal in the air in the Fashion World, or it’s plain politics (the Garden of Versailles have been recently restored with the help of “American Friends of Versailles”).

Secret Garden – Versailles from Christian Dior is a fashion meets art kind of advertising, in the walking Dior style. The short advertising film was made by Inez and Vinoodh in La Galeries Des Glaces – Chateau de Versailles. There’s a handful of beautiful models involved: Daria Strokous, Melissa Stasiuk, Xiao Wen Ju who seem genuinely haunted by some bad style ghost. Enjoy the Silence! This week the Met Gala, next week the Chanel Cruise Fashion Show – which, will take place, as reported, at the prestigious Château de Versailles. Karl Lagerfeld’s plan for the recently restored French Royal gardens involves water. Another water – inspired collection? Are you ready, my dahlings? Fashion’s Oscars are just an arm stretch away and I’m really excited to see the Red Carpet! Especially since the Met Museum announced that, for the first time since 1948, the arrivals of the much esteemed guests will be streamed live on its website! How amazing is that? Regular Oscars, I told you!

An avant – gout of Metropolitan Museum’s new exhibition: 2012 brings us “Impossible Conversations”. Inspired by Miguel Covarrubia’s “Impossible Interviews” from Vanity Fair (back from the 1930s), the new exhibition simulates conversations between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada organized in seven themed galleries.

The new exhibition is available through August 19, 2012 and, after the jump, you’ll see fragments of grace torn right from the above mentioned galleries plus a really interesting presentation video.
