Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2012 Collection: Dusty Fashion
July 3rd, 2012 by kpriss
I vaguely remember Karl Lagerfeld saying that if Coco Chanel would see the collections he designs for the house of Chanel today, she’d definitely hate them. I thought it was a big word. Especially for someone as praised and as appreciated as the Kaiser. But today, going through pictures of Chanel’s Fall 2012 Couture collection, I had a distinct “dusty” feeling. Where’s the glamour? Where are the designs for the young generation?
Vogue Italia’s Goth Cover July 2012
July 3rd, 2012 by kpriss
When I started talking about magazines covers going dark and lacking the joyful shine of the summer issues the other day, I had Vogue Italy’s July 2012 cover in mind. The absolute goth of it is haunting and not necessarily in a bad way.
The models, who are relatively unknown, contribute to the freshness supported and promoted by Vogue Italia through their various cover – initiatives (let us not forget that Vogue Italia did an all black issue in 2008, something that, as far as I know, wasn’t, even up to this day, leveled by any other edition of Vogue ). Julia Nobis, Linda Fox, Elena Bartels, MacKenzie Drazan, Vanessa Axente – these are your goth fashion witches! Care to ride with them?
Olsen’s Fur Backpack Slammed By PETA. Duh!
July 3rd, 2012 by kpriss
Though completely predictable, it doesn’t make the facts less poignant: PETA has reacted against the latest creation of the Olsen sisters’ The Row. We talked about the absurdity of a $16,000 fur backpack, but PETA is pushing things even further by saying “What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value”. Fashion is cruel. We are not. {FoxNews}

Alec Baldwin Got Married, Also On Vanity Fair August 2012 Cover
July 3rd, 2012 by kpriss
First things first: congrats to Alec Baldwin who just got married with Hilaria Thomas this Saturday! May they be happy forever after! And then some. Now let’s kick some fashion sense into this (we still haven’t had a single official picture with Hilaria’s wedding dress): Alec Baldwin covers Vanity Fair’s August 2012 issue (as photographed by Norman Jean Roy).
At his side, a beautiful young woman who looks every inch like Anne Vyalitsyna (if so, it would appear that the relationship with Adam Levine, which she ended a while ago, was slowing her down). Not even the second Vanity picture, which you’ll see after the jump, doesn’t clear things out. But hey! At least Alec looks really good with those white high heels and knee high socks, doesn’t he?

Versace Haute Couture Fall 2012 Collection: Fine Fashion Warriors
July 3rd, 2012 by kpriss
In the spirit of Gianni Versace who previously held his couture shows at the Ritz, Donatella put the Versace Haute Couture Fall 2012 Fashion Show in the same décor. Add her comments about feminism being dead and you’ll have a clear perspective over where this couture show was headed: the last feminist fighter. With fine fashion weapons. {style}
Hermes For The Home: Hermes Scarves Into Pillowcases
July 3rd, 2012 by kpriss
I admit that when I first saw this, I felt the snake bite deep into my heart as ever since I became aware of these wonders, I wanted a slice of my own: a Hermes Scarf is just as legendary as a Hermes bag. The extreme craftsmanship and care for detail turned a simple piece of printed fabric into art.
Monica Fittipaldi (if the name rings a bell, it’s because Monica is the daughter – in – law of racecar driver Emerson Fittipaldi) decided to turn the legendary scarves into pillow cases! Her collection of vintage Hermes scarves (going as back as 1934, when the Hermes scarves first appeared) turned into a very exclusive line of pillowcases with prices from $1,000 to $1,300, the luxury artisan items can be special ordered through her company, L’atelier Carre. So what say you, my dahlings? Scarf – pillow. Pillow – scarf? Both? (grin)
Daria Werbowy’s Lancome’s Hypnose Star Mascara Campaign With Betty Boop
July 2nd, 2012 by kpriss
Daria Werbowy – it’s been a while since I last saw her in any campaign. As such, I’m happy to see her back for Lancome. A new ad campaign for a new Lancome Mascara STAR with Daria Werbowy and Betty Boop looks charming and unexpected. If you take a look at the short film directed by Joann Sfar, you may not be convinced to Be – Boop, but you might get a Lancome Hypnose Star… {Fashionologie}
