Critics Choice Awards 2013: Red Carpet Highlights

After all the disappointment, I think it’s about time I showed you some of the highlights I loved the most from the 2013 Critics Choice Awards. Be it from the Red Carpet, from inside the actual ceremony, these are the details I liked, from all the images I’ve seen.
Among them, a very special mention for Emily Blunt’s Miu Miu white dress – I think I can safely declare that Emily Blunt can do no fashion wrong! I trust you noticed that the style of her white gown was very similar to Jessica Chastain’s red dress style (which was also Miuccia Prada’s doing, only released to the press as a ‘Prada’ gown). If you needed more proof that the 2013 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet was, to put it gently, poorly represented, join me for a discussion about the Monique Lhuillier girls!
Both Eva Longoria and Nina Dobrev were wearing dresses from Monique Lhuillier’s Spring Summer 2013 collection. Which wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all. Except that while Nina Dobrev perfectly wears her teal dress, Eva Longoria’s purple maxi gown is clearly a bad fashion choice.

Amanda Seyfried’s Blue Marios Schwab Dress, Critics Choice Awards 2013

After all that sequined drama surrounding Anne Hathaway’s look at the 2013 Critics Choice Awards, let’s see if we can find something fun to discuss! I’m trying with a splash of cobalt blue as worn by Amanda Seyfried.
It’s an interesting choice, really standing out on the Red Carpet. Pleats and lace, not an easy combo to wear, especially with this asymmetrical cut and black cutout in the back. Amanda’s Marios Schwab’s Spring Summer 2013 collection blue dress, although an offbeat choice, doesn’t quite take me out of my Red Carpet disappointment tonight.
Anne Hathaway’s De La Renta Silver Sequined Dress, Critics Choice Awards 2013

Whenever I think about Anne Hathaway, I think she’s a Valentino girl. And that not just because she wore a Valentino gown to her wedding, but also because at the very beginning of 2013, reports, kept coming in about how loudly Anne partied at Valentino’s New Year’s Eve party (there were even rumors about her singing a duet with Madonna during the night)!
Still, for the 2013 Critics Choice Awards, Anne Hathaway wore a silver sequined Oscar de la Renta dress. How is that even possible? Then again, on the same Red Carpet as Marion Cotillard not wearing Dior, anything is possible!

Jessica Chastain’s Prada Red Dress, Critics Choice Awards 2013

Jessica Chastain, my dahlings, is clearly one of the most fashion daring individuals I’ve seen walking the Red Carpet at tonight’s 2013 Critics Choice Awards! Not only she’s matching her red hair and lovely redheaded skin complexion to an all red dress, but the very cut of the dress is ill-fitting.
Jessica opted for a Prada burnt red dress with jewelry details around the neckline and in the back (actually, I can safely say that the back of her dress is more interesting than the front, which is clearly a loss when you’re one of the 2013 Critics Choice Awards winner – Jessica won for her role in Zero Dark Thirty).
Elle Fanning’s Chanel White Flowery Dress, Weird Shoes, Critics Choice Awards 2013

If someone can pull off a total Chanel look, than that someone is definitely Elle Fanning! I think it’s her smile that does the trick, not the clothes she’s wearing!
Because I’m not a fan of her Chanel gown, as spring – ish and youthful as it would look! Elle chose to wear a dress from Chanel’s Spring Summer 2013 collection and she even finished the look with some odd – looking silver metallic Chanel shoes from the same collection (which, I’m certain, they’re going to land her some ‘worst dressed’ titles). However, beyond my discontent, I sure feel happy that someone broke the black – somber look of the night and went for a more surprising sartorial perspective.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Prabal Gurung Black Dress, Critics Choice Awards 2013

Another official event, another black dress for Jennifer Lawrence! This time, for the Critics Choice Awards 2013, Jennifer chose a lengthy dress, with a train and a more plunging neckline than the other night’s Valentino sequined dress.
However, if you look at the ensemble details, Jennifer’s Prabal Gurung black dress from the designer’s Pre Fall 2013 collection, you may notice the odd similarities: tulip wrap skirt and a v – neckline. Even her hair is pretty much the same! Jennifer too opted for a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and Chopard jewelry (like Marion).
Marion Cotillard’s Zuhair Murad Flowery Black Dress, Critics Choice Awards 2013

It’s been a while since we last saw Marion Cotillard attending an official Red Carpet event! Here she is, in all her French glory, on the 2013 Critics Choice Awards arrivals Red Carpet, wearing a lovely flowery black lace dress!
I wonder what happened, though – was Marion released of her Dior contract? Because she chose a dress from Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 Haute Couture collection and she was usually all prettied up in Dior, for official events like this. Even so, the dress she’s wearing is in total accord with her style, finishing the busy embroidered lace look with a pair of nude Jimmy Choo shoes.
