Hipster Dads Magazine: Kindling Quarterly

Taking the side of all the wonderful men who are still out there: here’s Kindling. A Quarterly magazine dedicated to men. Who are also fathers. And hipsters on the side.

I don’t think we had this kind of magazine before, so it’s great to see that there’s still place for being original in today’s twisted world. That in order to hit the right chords, you don’t necessarily have to be controversial or tasteless (I’m sorry, I’m not trying a forced association of Kindling to our previous Philipp Plein story, I’m just happy I found a breathe of fresh air to help me transition through the Plein menswear provoked sadness! And for that, I have Papermag to thank to!)

Philipp Plein’s Tasteless Controversial Armed Men Fall Fashion Show

A day before Vice President Joe Biden presented his report on gun control to President Obama is the day chosen by Philipp Plein to showcase his unbelievably tasteless Menswear Fall 2013 Fashion Show in Milan!

Just a month after the unspeakable tragedy that hit Sandy Hook Elementary School, this comes out on the runway under the designer’s mindblowing explanation: ‘a troop of hot, strong, brave young men. Champions of a true ideal, fight only for real love, and ”Regret Nothing”, which is also the groove of a new style battle.’. I join Fashionista in saying: come again?

Jack Reacher’s Rosamund Pike’s LK Bennett Spring 2013 Campaign

Didn’t you miss a little bit of movie talk? I know many of you who went straight into the theaters to watch Tom Cruise’s version of Jack Reacher were disappointed. But I would like to switch focus now: think Rosamund Pike’s Reacher part. How did you feel about her?

I’ve always liked her play. And this was no different, except I wish they could’ve skipped the permanent cleavage part. Rosamund is way better than that! And L.K. Bennett’s Spring 2013 Ad Campaign shows just how appealing can Rosamund be, even buttoned up to her neck!

Models, Luxurious Fashion Vs Superstorm Sandy, Only In This Month’s Vogue!

When I was mentioning Superstorm Sandy earlier, I really meant it! Vogue US has published a pictorial in this month’s issue with models paying some kind of tribute to all those involved in the Hurricane Sandy relief task forces.

Because – you know – they’re New York’s finest! So they had to be presented with New York’s finest gals wearing New York’s finest designer collections. Is that really happening, or it’s just a bad magazine dream?

Rooney Mara’s Cold Vogue US February 2013

So: how should I put this? Rooney Mara is just so very… distant. And cold. And still, she seems to have sneaked & got stuck under Anna Wintour’s skin. I imagine that if Noomi Rapace would’ve been American, she’d be on the cover of this Vogue US February 2013 issue.

Because as hard as I’m trying to see her in some other role, Rooney is still The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. And will remain so until her new movie, Side Effects, hits theaters this February. But I somehow doubt that role will erase her previous dark one from everyone’s minds.

Milla Jovovich Vogue Paris February 2013 Leather Cover

Meanwhile in Paris… Actually that’s not even it! The cover is a skyline depiction of Manhattan with leathery Milla Jovovich as the main focus! But the facts still remain: while I was totally immersed in the Golden Globes Red Carpet issue (and loved every second of it!), Vogue Paris February 2013 pushed its cover along the internet lines.

And the result is almost unanimously positive. Almost everyone (and their respective dogs) knows Milla. Almost everyone loves Milla.

And leather is so much her! But then again so is boho chic. Hopefully we’ll catch some of that inside. Until then, let’s enjoy this beautiful Inez & Vinoodh signature piece of Milla Jovovich dressed in black total look Saint Laurent Paris leather towering over New York’s glass & concrete giants.

2013 Golden Globes: Red Carpet Highlights

What a night, huh? The 2013 Golden Globes! A year’s work in movies immersed in a sea of sequins, leg slits more or less boring speeches but a lot of glamour! So many people, so many awards and not enough time to talk about them all! It seems like the night just went away in a second – I could actually watch reruns and Red Carpet flashes for hours!

I can only imagine how I’ll feel after the Oscars! But the honest truth is that I love movies. Big screen or small screen, I really love them all with unhidden, undissimulated passion. And I love the tremendous work that’s being constantly poured in, I love the oh – so talented individuals who wear their many character’s costumes all year long and for several nights, they get to enchant us all with their glam Red Carpet parade.

But tonight, what I love most was Jodie Foster. Her brilliance, her honesty, her humor, her drama, her incredible blue yes, her trademark bob, her speech and her custom made Armani blue dress!

Lucy Liu’s Carolina Herrera Flowery Dress 2013 Golden Globes

I can’t resist it anymore! Lucy Liu was definitely my favorite Red Carpet act at the 2013 Golden Globes! Her Carolina Herrera flowery dress was so much fun, you simply couldn’t get around it!

Lucy herself was a shining ray of light on a semi – dull display of dresses with no particular style nod to talk about. I loved the daring print from Carolina Herrera’s 2013 Pre Fall collection dress, but I definitely think that it takes someone like Miss Liu to really wear it! Lucy was so much fun posing and walking around like a princess in that gown!
