2 Vogue Covers Confirm: Daria Werbowy Is Officially Back!

Well, hello there! look who’s back in fashion: Daria Werbowy! And she’s not shy about it either, claiming her reigning crown with not one but two Vogue covers and an ad campaign styled by Carine Roitfeld for Diane von Furstenberg, shot by Sebastian Faena.

I already said something about Daria’s Vogue Paris August 2013 issue cover, it’s time to talk about her inside pictorial as well. Except I’ll be brief about it as it’s not on my alley. Photographed by David Sims and styled by Emmanuelle Alt, Daria looks uncomfortable and uneasy, like a wet cat in a screen test for headbands. I’m not hyped about fall temperatures and the inevitable moisture and frizz, cold humid wind and muddy gardens, but for a pre-fall issue of a magazine as prestigious as Vogue Paris, this is a rather disappointing visual experience.

Luckily, Vogue UK’s September 2013 cover and associated inside pictorial are way more charming and fashion-fulfilling than the above shot. Or simply more appealling to my inner fashionista. Althought slighltly unexpected from Alexandra Schulman’s Vogue which is typically on a hesitant path towards celebrity more than hardcore fashion.

Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Kate Phelan, Daria’s pictorial – they say – is her first Vogue from 2009 (I wonder where that leaves Vogue Paris’s August issue we mentioned about above). And so an extensive interview was de rigueur, an interview in which Daria talks about herself and her choices, about her rebellious ways and ferociously refrains herself from foraying into her private life. Her hair looks better, she seems to be more confident and even more powerful. Rumor has it that everyone who’s anyone in fashion is scared that she will disappear again. Will she?
