Now that time finally cooled down the controversy, the fashion world is ready to consider giving Galliano a second chance. In order to achieve that and make a credible redemption, the tastemakers, trendsetters and marketdoers concocted a special comeback recipe for our talented Mr. Galliano: he is, now, a recovered addict. Yay! blame it on the blue pill… Or the red pill… Whichever, it was the pill that stranded Mr. Galliano and not his straight head talented persona.
He’s taking it slowly, one interview at the time, one respectable but highly significant pictorial at the time (like this wonderful pose below, in front of Annie Leibovitz‘ cameras for an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair’s Ingrid Sischy). Every step brings him closer to a successful comeback as long as he’s keeping his eyes down on his toes and his strategy straight.
He is not to mess up again as the world loves a good comeback, not a lame relapse. Remember the position he occupied for just few months under Oscar de la Renta’s protection? it was unclear at the time but it all makes sense now: his second interviewer, the eminent journalist Charlie Rose, is really close to OdlR, thus making a profiling imminent.
I’m aware that my above rant sounds like a conspiracy theory, but I can’t allow myself the naivety of thinking that it’s all just a game of randomness. And as cynical as the theory may appear, its source is a genuine feeling of relief and appreciation as Galliano did, unquestionably, deserved a second chance! please, don’t waste it, John! we really miss you!

I am gonna purchase this issue. As a farewell to times that won’t come back….times I have enjoyed so much….and because I loved John Galliano a lot. And still do.
I watched the whole interview last night. I still don’t know what to say really…only that I felt so melancholic when I woke up this morning…..
I am not gonna purchase this issue. I learnt enough after I watched the interview.
Most people deserves a second chance. So does John. He has to come up with something really different and good. The outragenous is over. Times have changed.
Every time when footage of his many entrances at the end of his shows were showed I felt my face muscles turn into a smile……I loved that a lot.. That was my melancholy….:)
A very demure John Galliano in a simple shirt and suit? Hmm…..not remember anything of the incident? Hmm…..I have had a black-out once. No, I was not an addict on lots of things like him. After hearing horrifying news I drank almost a whole bottle of tequila. People let me and were protective. [I was in my fave cafe and many friends were around].
I woke up the next morning in all my clothes and a friend laid next me. He told me everything. I still can’t remember anything but what I heard from him and other friends oh yes, that were my thoughts. That was so very me. I was not nasty though. Yes, I was nasty about something, about someone, but nothing like what happened to John. Nothing racist or xenophobic.
Well, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and that second change. I have never been in such a state as he was or in such pain that made McQueen kill himself……So I’m not gonna judge him. And nobody should unless you have been in his situation. Or have witnessed people who were there…..
Plus he has been punished enough. Sometimes enough is enough!
So good luck John Galliano. Surprise us again like back in the ’90s. :)
Thank you! For everything you said and for the honesty of your confessions!
Yes, do surprise us John! And please bring back your costume-y self!
I did not make a confession! I told a story that happened long ago back in the ’80s. The only time I have had a blackout. I have no reason to be ashamed. I didn’t hurt a soul other than myself with a huge hungover and memory loss over that night. Something that happened once and not on a daily basis. :)
You might have not seen the the whole interview or read the whole article?
The ‘costume-y self’ was Galliano the drug and not to forget the alcoholic person. Plus a man working under super high pressure.
I loved the persona he created on stage but it was a man under the influence. A junkie. I could see that now.
Plus it’s a style a life style that did belong to the selfish ’90s and a part of the ’00s. But times has changed…..
I want him to surprise us with something fresh and renewed. If that’s possible…..
