They’re pretty interesting, to say the least! It’s like a multiple personality fashion moment where Laetitia plays provocatively under Emmanuelle Alt’s style supervision.
White and black for the most part, Laetitia the Adored is undoubtedly amazing at what she does, Mario Testino’s photos capturing in depth the cheeky show (literally) put on Vogue’s display by the French beauty. But the simple truth is that this Vogue Paris May 2012 cover story pictorial is not far from the usual Vogue US star profiling. With the only notable exception that Laetitia Casta was (and is) a model previous to being an actress.(click through for more images, click here for the gallery!)
From what I came to find out reading the pages of Vogue shared at tFS, Laetitia is part of four upcoming movies of which “Les Adores” (The Adored) – a movie made after Regis Jauffret’s book “Severe”. And Regis Jauffret is the one who’s interviewing her for this Vogue issue (Laetitia Casta is Helene Brossard, the very strict lover of Edouard Stern whose life she’ll eventually take). This, my dahlings, is what makes this photo session so odd and particularly themed.
As opposed to Vogue US where fame is given a familiar, popular, accessible aura through its cover star subjects: remember Scarlett Johansson being interviewed for Vogue while she’s chopping onions? – that’s the kind of normality Vogue Paris doesn’t look for nor does it promote it. In Vogue Paris, an actress has mythical dimensions, her roles have epical proportions and the simple act of promoting a movie in Vogue Paris’ pages is glamorized as some sort of monumental cultural event.
