Today I’m premiering the Spring Summer 2010 issue of Vs. Magazine. You might remember it from previous issues, when I was trying to convince you they’re really something else in the fashion magazines landscape.
This time, however, I won’t try to convince you about anything, the following stands by itself to prove that Vs. is, with any doubt, not your average magazine. And their upcoming issue, with Claudia Schiffer, Vanessa Paradis, Bar Refaeli and Claire Danes is set to amaze your aesthetics. (don’t miss the rest of the story and the images right after the jump! Click here for the gallery!)
Four covers are ready for the Vs. SS 2010 issue. One more beautiful than the other, each with a strong personality and message. I’ll take Claudia and concentrate on her part in this Vs. Magazine issue: she’s impersonating Miss Julie (yes, Strindberg’s Fröken Julie), something quite different and new from her previous, boring Brigitte Bardot-esques pictorials you can find in so many other magazines.
If you’re slightly familiar with the play’s story, you’ll know that Miss Julie’s tragic, contradictory self isn’t easy to portray. Nevertheless, with a little help from Kayt Jones photographic skills, Claudia manages a wonderful, both fashionable and artistic visual moment. A dreamer, a woman, yet with such hautain-ish, aristocratic gestures and strong postures, Claudia’s Miss Julie isn’t something I’d want to miss! There’s also a short film on Vs. site, a short film with scenes from the shooting itself plus vintage frames building the atmosphere. That and Massive Attack’s Angel really make this Kayt Jones directed film striking and as noir as every Miss Julie act should be. So I’m graciously encouraging you to watch it on Vs ‘ site!

I like Claudia’s cover a lot. She’s different here, very interesting. The other photos are great too but I’ve a bit of a Claudia overdoses. And I’m tired of “BB”. Love the old photos of the original though. Even Vanessa’s prune bores me. And I don’t get the thing for Bar Refaeli? Terrible photo, no mediocre cheapish. Saw her presenting a programme, that took only 25 minutes but what a long 25 minutes it were! That girl is quite controversial in her country. Married a family member to get off her (Israeli) army duty, divorced him and is back with Leo and her career??
I agree with Adriana, Claudia’s cover is interesting and quite original and Bar’s look cheap and breaks the group’s style.
Maybe it’s because I’m quite “new” in fashion world and I hadn’t seen enough of them but I’m still not fed up of BB and Vanessa’s prune!
s.
I’m a Vanessa fan! I really like her but am a bit fed up with these poses over and over again. Not only by her by the way. There’s a new “gap” star, celeb off-spring Georgia Jagger. Her mother Jerry Hall was marvelous or still is. But Georgia looks kind of “dead”, uninspiring. And looks so bland next to Vanessa.
Sorry, it’s possible I’ve become blasé of course?
I like Claudia in this series of photos. She looks pretty nifty and striking. : )
Vanessa looks the same in all of her photos of late and I have to agree with Adriana and s about her shots. I like Vanessa but I wish she could would do something different photo wise, like Marion Cotillard whom I am a big fan of ever since I watched “La Vie en Rose” .
Bar does not interest me, so I have no comment really in regards to her.
I also love Claire Dane’s photo. She is one of my favourites and she looks pretty.
Georgia Jaggar is modeling now too… what a surprise.
What ever happened to Elizabeth Jaggar who was modeling? Both of them can not hold a candle to their mother Jerry, they are pale imitations of her I think.
Good question, what ever happened to Elizabeth Jagger? Maybe she studies as her father likes his daughters to do above modelling? He knows all about that world right? :D
Claudia’s, hands down. Vanessa is doing that face and angle over and over.
