This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: what would you do to support the cause? Besides wearing pink – the color of this particular awareness? Oh, I know: let’s get inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow and her way of bringing up the awareness talk!
Just last month, a new movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow (Mark Ruffalo and Pink, among other brilliantly gifted actors) premiered world wide. Although filmed in 2011, ‘Thanks for Sharing’ only saw the light of the cinema theaters this fall. But that’s ok because it’s really one of those timeless movies you can watch now or in a few years, nothing really changes. Because it’s a movie about addicts and addictions. And we’ll always have plenty of that, won’t we? (yours truly is a self-confessed nail polish addict, what is your addiction?)
But it’s not the movie I wanted to talk about this time. Although I think all the actors were spectacular and I was oh-so pleasantly surprised by Pink and her acting! I wanted to talk about Gwyneth Paltrow.
And that because now with Fashion Month coming to an end, I also had eyes for a different set of news. And Gwynnie was all over the place with a photograph of her shooting a new Hugo Boss commercial in which she’s only wearing a tux on her bare, freckled highly toned skin!
And seeing her flashing so much skin, much to the gossip columns delight, made me think of that movie I mentioned above. Gwyneth’s character, Phoebe, is a Breast Cancer Survivor. And not only she talks about that with irreverent bluntness, also stating that she had a new set of surgically planted breasts, but she’s also showing her support by wearing a special awareness tshirt.
And that black top with neon print worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in the last scenes of the movie, is a special Stand Up 2 Cancer t-shirt. It was available at the time of the filming, in 2011, now it’s currently off the official website’s listings, but plenty more are available for purchasing if you’re interested.
If the Tshirt looks familiar, know that pretty much everyone wore it at a Stand Up 2 Cancer Telethon in 2010, from Vanessa Hudgens to Idris Elba while Gwyneth Paltrow was the executive producer of the 2012 Stand Up to Cancer telecast last year (notice the change of logo – perhaps one of the reasons why the simple up arrow and a 2 logo isn’t available for purchase any longer).
Thanks for Sharing that you are one of those who Stand Up 2 Cancer, Gwyneth! May we all S↑2C!

We all must stand up to push the pharmaceutical industry and funds to use the money for research. And less to overhead and other profits. Also important is to use that for preventive consultation. Like DNA tests etc.
It’s great there are timeless films like this. I love to see it. Mark Ruffalo is in it. ;) <3
