For some time now I’m indulging myself in the wonders of DIY. And I’m not trying to obtain an industrialized look, au contraire, my homemade headbands have that unique quality I can’t find in a store bought headband – they come from my own imagination. I can’t feel the same wearing an already made headband. It just isn’t me. So I started crafting some headbands for my daughter too.
Today it was one of those headbands making days. I made her a light brown flowery headband with metallic gray beads in the middle. I felt good with the result, and she looked pretty wearing it, proud with the headband made by her mommy. Yeah. That totally made my day!
Seeing Valentino‘s pre show seamstresses work impressed me to that very diy bone I manifest from time to time. I could never compare myself to those ladies! They’re artists! Have you seen what they do for the Valentino Spring Summer 2011 Haute Couture show? A – R – T! (click through for more images!)
I’m beginning to enjoy the minimalist approach of the new Haute Couture Spring Summer 2011 season. It’s heart warming. Sure, I appreciate the theatrical value that the collections of Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano (for Dior) bring to the couture scene. It just wouldn’t be the same without them. But the embroidered heaven from Chanel and now Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli‘s Valentino make me love couture even more.
It’s all in the details! Also – that red dress? and the shirt beige dress? I’m reading “my wardrobe” allover them! (you can see images from the entire collection here)
