Are you familiar with the works of Marianne Van Ooij? I have the feeling you’ll find her creations very interesting! Take this ceramics set for instance!
Suggestively entitled “Dressed for Dinner”, this ceramic dinner set brings out the social conventions on a plate. Dining isn’t just about the food, it’s also about socializing. Socializing is all about appearances. Why wouldn’t you wear your appearance on a plate? The idea goes further than the simple dinner table aesthetics, I think it adds a smile to the dinner constraints. I’d love to have a set, wouldn’t you? Too bad they’re only prototypes (for now). These are fun. I’ve to confess I had to google for Marianne. The name sound so Dutch….I’ve never saw her work before. Must be because she moved to New York. Artists here need to move abroad for international recognition.
Ah well, no New York without us the Dutch right? :D
