Naomi Iman And Liya Cover Essence September 2010

One is enough to make a gorgeous cover, let alone all three goddesses together! Naomi Campbell, Iman, Liya Kebede together on the cover of Essence Magazine, the 40th anniversary issue, September 2010.

Does it get any better than this? (yes, I know, there’s airbrushing, but still, we can see still the beauty within) All that with a cover tagline which doesn’t read, as opposed to the usual boring “fabulous at every age” but “40 fierce and fabulous. Women who are changing the world”. Wouldn’t you want to be fierce and fabulous when you grow up? I now I would! (photo via)

Is this a ‘black’ magazine? I’ve never heard of it let alone that I’ve ever seen it you see.
Yes, Iman and Lya look fabu (as Ellington should say) and very lovely but Naomi? What has she done to herself? And sorry I’ve still the Charles Taylor war criminal court case in The Hague in mind……
Anyway, I’m gonna try to find this Essence here in a special bookstore.

yep, it’s a special magazine, and yes, Naomi looks weird ;). They were overzealous in photoshopping her smiling perfectly… What else is new, right?

Naomi looked weird at the War Tribunal Court too. She wore obviously a wig and kinda bloated as if she had done things to her face. And that footage was not photoshopped at all. She didn’t want to be photographed outside the courthouse claiming that this was “inconvenient for her private life”. Right, a woman that’s in magazines all the time whether it’s for her job or somewhere partying etc. I find her part in the blood diamonds case questionable after hearing/reading some other testimonies. And she’s not really a squeaky clean persona either as we all know. But maybe Naomi isn’t the brightest light since she models since her early teens?

Maybe someone like Tyra Banks who has achieved a lot as a business woman would have been a more fierce example of a successful woman? I’m not really a fan but I do admire the hard work of Tyra.

hahahah.. i loved Naomi statements:” i received some dirty looking stones in the midle of the night.. I didnt know they were diamonds because they didnt shine”….
but she kept them anyway….how smart….
Yes, she has undergone a facial treatment in Brazil which consists in hundreds of micro injections of small dosis of hialuronic acid (to improve smoothness and moisturization) plus polilactic acid (to improve colagen production).
temporary swelling is one side effect.
I like her a bit but she definetely doesnt deserv the cover

I can’t laugh mdinah. Pathetic! I followed a lot of news/documentaries about this gruelling dictator Charles Taylor and his ways. I watched the other testimonies also and it caused quite a stir here. It’s the talk of the day. We’re talking blood diamonds here! Blood diamonds and how they dig them and what they do with these……no she doesn’t deserve this cover at all. She could have help to nail him!! So I suppose Essence made this cover shoot some months ago long before certain facts as we’re now aware off became public.
Yeah, I shut up now. I made myself clear enough I hope.

Adriana dahling, you sound quite bittered…smile dahling, life is wonderful..even with Naomi around…
I hope that that “pathetic” was not for me but for Naomi’s declarations.
My laughing was patently a sarcastic one…Naomi is a spoiled self centered creature who takes things for granted(like many other brits- kate, amy, george michael, young elthon john, boy george-)and who think they have special rights.
you still dont understand the thousand subtle nuances that a simple smile can hold??
you seem to be an outsider of the fashion world…
Beautiful words yours!!Now we all know that you are socially conscious.Keep on that path!!the world needs more and more people like you…but control the bitterness..

Models are my favourite form of celebrity worship! But Naomi Campbell doesn’t deserve covers anymore (due to her elitist / rude attitude). Her spot should have been filled by Veronica Webb or Tyra Banks.
Finally all the text ruins a nice cover for me.

Iman – j’adore.

Essence is a nifty magazine but yes Naomi should not have been included in that trio.
I agree with Keiko that Veronica Webb should have been featured, or even Tyra.
Naomi is just beyond lame with her insipid “performance” at the Hague!
She is not to be believed and is pure jank personified!
Yes well said Adriana! : )
