Eva Mendes Calvin Klein Jeans Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

Troubled times, but some things never change. Take this Calvin Klein Jeans Spring Summer 2010 ad campaign for instance: Eva Mendes? Check! Jamie Dornan? Check! Calvin Klein jeans? Check! Oily skin? check!

The new Calvin Klein Jeans campaign bets on Eva Mendes’ appeal. Again. And for some reason that eludes me: I can’t see Eva like the Calvin Klein people do. Plus I have this strange voice in the back of my head telling me: don’t buy Calvin Klein Jeans! They’re full of oil and dirt! Don’t buy Calvin Klein Jeans…. And so on. What to do, what to do? Well I have liked and still like my Calvin Klein jeans in the past.
This ad does not say they are oily to me though.
I think they use Eva because she is supposed to be sultry and this ad is supposed to be too.?

Not able to do anything else than sit with my leg up high on a pillow I browse the interwebs. The Daily Mail showed photos of girls who got out almost undressed this last weekend! It’s freezing cold in Europe. Snow and ice.
This ad shows exactly why these girls got out undressed….we girls and women have to be sexy and sultry all the time. The girls with brains and sense dress themselves in layers of course and wear their UGG’s no matter what…..but alas…..there’s a huge group who are vulnerable and want to live up to this images we see all the time.
I’m sick of it. This isn’t about fashion anymore, it’s about sex. I’ve nothing against sex, on the contrary. But I’m sick of it it’s in my face all the time……

I concur Adriana, I was inundated with them in England. It would be very cold and these girls would dress in the skimpiest of outfits in high-heels and not wear a coat or even a sweater! They were ridiculous and looked foolish.
They dressed that way so they could “pull” someone, never mind their safety or health as long as they thought they looked sexy, staying warm is not sexy… to them
I would like to see them try that here in the dead of winter in Canada where it sometimes gets to -12 degrees C not including the wind chill factor.

Ellington, that’s the case in the north of of the UK! I wish could show the photos here. Newcastle is way up north as you know. I couldn’t believe my eyes watching those photos. In Scotland it have been -20 degrees C. Almost the same in Newcastle. I only wear UGG’s when it’s freezing cold and only for one reason: to keep me warm.
We see here the full map of Europe in the wheather news you see. It’s so extreme this year.

Anyway, I slipped on the UGG’s, ugh….:((

I truly believe brainless girls and women are influenced by this ad-campaigns and fashion shoots…..

Adriana, I’m sending you warm hugs and wishing wells! I hope those UGGs didn’t bring you too much pain and that you’re now ready to rock some heels! (not that I’m pro wearing summer-ish outfits when it snows! No siiiireey! I want every piece of my body bien au chaud, covered to the teeth! And so I do for everyone under my roof! I really don’t go together well with low temperatures! I was born in the summertime, so that’s it for me: gimme summer, summer all year long!)

Oh, the youth today! Really worries me! It’s all upside down!

Now getting back to sultry Eva: yeah, that’s what I thought, that she’s supposed to inspire some wild and unstoppable intimacy. Man, I really don’t feel that! She’s a gorgeous woman, don’t get me wrong, but I just have this overwhelming feeling that she’s sleeping all the time. Like when she’s acting? she’s so feline-ish and slow and supposedly sultry… I may be wrong, but I always thought the Latina blood is boiling. All the time.

Ah Kpriss, now don’t say that about Latina/Latin blood, that is a perpetuated racial stereotype. We should never get sucked into those willingly or fall prey to them. :)

Oh, my bad then! It’s kinda cliche, right you are! so sleepy head Eva looks sultry to you here?

#8 Ellington on 01.12.10 at 9:22 am

Well I find that Eva can be sultry sometimes, but it depends whether you find or so or not.

When I read your comments I remember the comment that I received last sunday in tha tram,I was wearing a wol hat that I crocheted my self, with my girl on my back arounded with a huge lambswool poncho with wool trousers and snow boots!! some one I knew told me ” we can’t imagine that you ever been a model dressed like this.

I was like, it’s -16, what do i supposed to do ?put me on heels and let my girl freezing like the poor Suri Cruise?
we see too much sex in every thing with all the ads, and youth don’t understand that it’s not real, when it’s -16º you cover yourself and your beloved ones, you don’t go on heels when you have 30cm of snow!!

Ready to rock some heels? This take 6 weeks! Thank God for UGG’s because they are firm I’ve not a broken foot! I love them now. I never thought I should say or write that. I’m gonna try tomorrow or Friday to walk a bit outdoors….if I get the UGG’s on because: no high heels for 6 weeks….or too tight shoes…..I’ve a very colourful foot though.

café au lait: I bet you looked gorgeous in your snow/cold gear. Some people…..pfff….brrrr, it hasn’t been that cold in ages in our region….same a bit more up north girl!

#11 kpriss on 01.14.10 at 8:03 am

(I’ll open up my spirit for Eva, see what I’ll come up with when seeing her again! ;) )

Dear café au lait, I have a confession to make: every time you talk about you and your baby girl I feel a cocktail of emotions bursting out of me! It’s adorable! they way you talk about your baby, about the two of you – there’s something about it.. Love it! just love it! :*

Adriana, it was that bad?! Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that! I hoped it was just a small concussion, something that’ll just pass away in a day or two! But six weeks? come on, come here, let me give you a warm hug and an equally warm tea! :* I’ll do my best to keep you entertained while you recover nice and quickly! :*

#12 Adriana on 01.14.10 at 10:12 am

I’ve the same thing when I read café au lait about her and her little girl. :)) I even type this with big smile.
Great choice the snow boots. Especially when you carry a precious little thing.

No UGG’s on slippery roads. They are only really great when it’s freezing cold without snow. This was my first year on UGG’s outdoors and the second time I wore the outdoor ones…..right….snow boots are much better!! Ugly or not who cares? I shall wear UGG’s though again, but only when it’s freezing cold. Never again with snow…
Where does this ice-age come from? I believe the scientists are also confused. So to see naked Eva and Jamie in oil in the heat confused me a lot….it still does…..

#13 Café au lait on 01.15.10 at 4:52 pm

OH, I think I talk a lot about her! it’s because I do every thing with her, even working!!

I’m glad that the snow is gone now, it’s warm again (+1,5º), in an other circumstances I will find it cold but after -16º.
