While feeling funny about already talking January 2010 magazines and observing they still log on to the supers – safe – mode, I want to point that Elle Magazine‘s perspective is rather twisted and mean (you’ll see just what I mean throughout this very article).
Helena Christensen (who, for the record, I favorite amongst the supers and by right, for she truly is a beautiful woman) covers Elle January 2010, the UK edition. (the story continues right after the jump! Click through to discover the second cover and a gallery with Helena Christensen from Elle Magazine!)
The cover (at least the subscribers cover) looks splendidly minimal and coordinated, Helena makes a gorgeous pose with her hair pumped up, surrounding her face. (with that amazing bone structure I so admire!) I’m closing my eyes to the Gaga influence: wearing your lingerie as outerwear is something I wished it would have only stayed in Gaga’s wardrobe. Instead it took every designer by storm.
But what does the magazines stand cover reads? Right next to Helena Christensen there’s an interesting title announcing the New Faces to Watch. The Supermodels Of Tomorrow (Elle Picks 10 New Faces To Watch). While still putting a super on the cover.. isn’t that the handy work of a twisted and mean Grinch who stole the original cover (meant for the new 10 faces) and left Elle with no other choice but bet on a safe hand with Helena Christensen? What say you? (photos via)

I say mix all ages in magazines. Well, maybe not the too elderly women, but at least the ones that look good even when they’re 60! No one bashes Anna Wintour or Carolina Herrera, Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep i.e.
So!!! I want to look like Susan Sarandon by the way at that age.
I’m not a real fan of Helena, never has been, but these are of course beautiful photos.
I like Helena, she is always lovely, and she looks fabu on this cover.
I agree with Adriana about mixing the ages. Beauty is carried through and on, it does not stop at certain age. :)
[…] Helena Christensen pryder Elle UKs cover i en alder av 40, og ser fantastisk ut. Under er et gammelt bilde av en annen favoritt over 40: […]
It is so great to see real beauty on the fashion magazine cover of uk elle for Jan 2010. As I have said before in my opinion the UK covers of the high end fashion magazines are the best by far. I have been a subscriber of USA magazines faithfully since 1980 including vogue, harper’s bazaar, elle, glamour, mademoiselle at one point, maire claire and allure. However the uk mags and the gorgeous covers out shines the USA covers which I hate to admit since i live in the USA. Keep up the great work and keep real women and beauty the focus of your covers and pictorials not the “teenagers” or ” teen scene”. I can not tell you how i cringe when i see miley cyrus, lindsay lohan, kristen stewart and the likes on the covers of any magazine it is a waste. Not to mention Paris hilton and also nicole richie……enough bring back Helena and Claudia etc., etc. that is what I say.
Good Day
Linda
