Andy Warhol’s Artistic Work As Children’s Book Illustrator

Did you know that Andy Warhol did illustrations? And not just any kind of illustration – Children’s books illustrations? I didn’t! So I thought it would be an interesting find to share!

Especially after all that so-called fashionart Muse Magazine! Andy Warhol illustrated The Little Red Hen in 1958. Though many versions of this story are available, the illustrations as handmade here by Andy Warhol are faithful to the original fable. Though Andy Warhol is not an easy-to-hear name, his crushing genius wasn’t as clear in 1958 as we could have been tempted to believe (he was 30-year old at the time). Doodle up, ladies, you never know! (click through to see more images or skip directly to the gallery here!)(Glyphjockey via the Jailbreak)

I really like the fun, whimsy and use of colour in Warhol’s drawings/doodles! They make me smile. :)

Oh, I’ve overlooked this one. No, I didn’t know Andy did this too. I love it. What a nice surprise. I smile along Ellington.:)
