Speculations about Cate Blachett doing the December 2009 cover of Vogue US still have us holding our fashbreath and ask. Really, is that it?
Cate Blachett, again, on the cover of Vogue magazine, the US edition, this time it’s the oh-so-special December cover. Supposedly photographed by Annie Leibovitz (is there no stopping her, lately!), Cate’s bronze silhouette looks distantly upon mortals with her superior glaze.Yes, Cate, we’re all experiencing that odd déjà vu feeling… Aren’t we? Regardless of your timeless beauty and ageless figure, I’m living Vanity Fair’s January 2009 all over again! (the story continues right after the jump with more images!) (photo via)
As it seems, Cate Blanchett is actually happening on the December 2009 cover of Vogue (the US edition). And the piece about her, as amazed as always, is called “Truth or Dare”.
At one point, you’ve got to stop and ask yourself (and Vogue editors, biensur) how truly amazed one can be at someone’s subject. Is it proper fascination or merely the happy marketing choice of a leading story that will always draw customers, no matter what. This time, Cate talks with Vogue about her theatrical pleasures and choices. It’ll remain a dark question in Hollywood: why are some of the leading actors of all times fascinated by the stage? The magic of the stage is also a strong threshold to pass (or not) for those who appreciate the actor behind the film actor. For there is indeed a difference between acting and acting in films. A huge one. And Cate delivers for both camps. Thus she is stunning. And she’s both an accomplished mother and wife. She even explains her effervescent Red Carpet (and beyond) style as inspired by her parenting:
Your sense of bravery increases. You’re constantly making mistakes as a parent—constantly. So you just think, Oh, let’s give this a go—what have I got to lose?
Yeah, another Vogue with Cate Blanchett. What have you got to lose?

Give me Vogue UK December 2009. Cate is beautiful as always but it’s a boring cover.
I hate the catalog lay-out…..blehhhhh…..nothing festive about this cover at all.
Yes Adriana, you got that right, it is a boring cover, but I do adore Cate! Didn’t Annie take the VF cover photo too? I think I like Oprah’s Christmas cover best so far.
Cate is always awesome… but i think some photographers and publishers en general should respect reader’s intelligence.. im getting bored with the same ligth, same posing, same styling…all over again… Mario Testino just copying (“getting inspired by”, he says…) old classics in photography… even Steven Meisel doing the same… such a shame..Recurring to the “safe formula” which worked (sold well) in the past..
perhaps they are trying to appeal to the new generations who still didnt see all that stuff.. But what about us, readers of a certain age, who have the money to buy all the stuff they want to sell??
