After showing Lindsay Lohan’s Elle-friendly face, Rankin photographed Lily Allen for the October 2009 issue of Elle UK. Because she’s British and she’s Hot (he said).

For someone who’s highly controversial and foremost known as a smoking and drinking champion, Lily really had fun doing this simple Elle job (not to mention she was acclaimed by the photograph, the stylist and pretty much everyone on the photo-team). What I love the most about this Lily Allen Elle story is her being a normal person. A very talented one, but still a normal sized, normal looking person. Of course they made her wear glossy high fashion designers so she looks all pampered up and ready to rock any catwalk; of course they had to Photoshop her (almost beyond recognition) because you know, fashion people don’t have skin flaws or texture irregularities. But Lily still is Lily and she’s covering a special issue of Elle, celebrating 25 years of London Fashion week! I wonder if she would have still been a fashion (sort of) icon if she wasn’t a celebrity. Oh, how easy the famous one get stylish and fashperfect! Especially the rich ones!
