Bobby McFerrin Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

Bobby McFerrin’s Don’t Worry Be Happy was the song of a generation! I couldn’t have overlook this wonderful tune so here it goes, part of a Friday Break (after hours).

Thanking your for this most amazing week, for your great and insightful comments, I hope you enjoy this great song by Bobby McFerrin “Don’t Worry, Be Happy!”. Have the greatest weekend ever! (more info after the jump)

Entirely written and sung by Bobby McFerrin (you may hear “instruments” but in fact it’s an a capella song, with sounds made by McFerrin himself), this great little piece of philosophical music was the revelation of 1988. Awarded with 3 Grammy Awards, the song draws its word of advice from Meher Baba, an Indian mystic. Though it was believed and sourced as Bob Marley’s, Don’t Worry, Be Happy had nothing to do with the Jamaican legend (he actually died seven years before the release of Bobby McFerrin’s song).

Used in numerous movies (Flushed Away, Wall-E) and TV series (The Fresh Prince, The Simpsons, Nip/Tuck) as well as commercials, Bobby McFerrin’s Don’t Worry Be Happy was a perfect light hearted success, the kind we just love hearing on a Friday Break (not to mention the beautiful and playful video with Bobby McFerrin, Robin Williams and Bill Irwin, notorious and brilliant actors)

UPDATE: Sadly, the great Robin Williams passed away on August 11th 2014, after an apparent life-long battle with depression. May his gesture bring awareness to the ailment and may he finally be forever and ever Happy! Thank you, Robin Williams, for all the wonderful moments you brought us and for all the laughs and smiles! Rest in Peace!

I love that song and the video a lot and the year 1988 which was for sure my “don’t worry, be happy year”. The “you go girl year!”. Hihi, we tried to dance like that, it’s not easy oh no…

Gosh, I’m flabbergasted since I’ve always have thought -and not only me- it was Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams……Not that I doubt your info Kpriss but now I had to research it myself of course! Some sources still claim it’s Christopher Reeve. But I’ve seen Bill Irwin clips and yes, it must be him….gosh….anyway, it’s music wise really wonderful what a great intrument the human voice can be. So well, don’t worry be happy then and up to a new week then?
