Uma Thurman’s InStyle US September 2008

Uma Thurman’s InStyle cover was so strange to my eyes and I had no idea why. The styling was just fine, coordinated colors, Uma smiling big.. Wait, what? Uma smiling? Now that’s what was strange about this cover!

Fall Fashion’s InStyle issue covers Uma Thurman as a happy grown up woman who admires European women for their “effortless style, as thought they’ve been culturally raised to wear clothes gracefully and effortlessly”.

Uma Thurman Instyle US September cover Jumping from shoes addiction to jeans, Uma prefers clothes that make her feel good and relaxed.

I look at her flowery and summer bright style in this photo shoot and still can’t understand why I don’t like her here and I still prefer the Pulp Fiction’s Uma more. Ever since, she remained a beautiful woman and developed into a diversified actress (with a 20 years long career already).

Would you say she’s a fulfilled woman and professional? (and as a personal curiosity – which of her films you liked more?)

I love Uma! I also don’t mind this cover, she looks like herself not over the top. I think that she has done what she has wanted in and with her career. She has made some bold and some sad movie choices, and sadly her marriages did not work out, but I like to think she is happy and pleased with her life.
I would have to say that I love Uma in four films!
1)The Adventures of Baron Munchausen Her entrance as Venus was amazing!

2) Gattaca
She and Ethan Hawke were touchingly beautiful and tragic in a beautiful shot film.

3 & 4) Kill Bill Vol.1 and Vol.2
Don’t mess with Black Mamba!
She was so hard core and cool in those films! Made me want a katana of my own!

As a European I begin to wonder about the use of the French language in fashion a thing the old European aristocracy did long ago and words about us Europeans are flattering but nonsenses as “effortless style, as thought they’ve been culturally raised to wear clothes gracefully and effortlessly”???? Yes, some do and some don’t. And the French are so tres chic? Not on the country-side or in the poor North. All nonsense. In certain distrircts of Paris and other places for the rich? Sure. But this goes for my country too. Or is that the reason why Europe has a US celeb invasion lately? That was off-topic I know…But I’m inspired by Uma….

I cannot answer if Uma is fulfilled as a woman or a professional? What do I know? Nothing is what it looks like. I’ve no special interest in her. Tho there are some films with her in it I really liked:

1. Pulp Fiction – no explanation needed?
2. Mad Dog and Glory – such a moving story and a very endearing Uma….
3. Dangerous Liasons – I adore that movie still, have watched it a several times, there are better parts in it I know but Uma was so fresh and beautiful.

I adore Uma too!
She’ll always be Black Mamba to me.She’s elegant and a darn good actress.I liked her in the Kill Bill Vols.,Pulp Fiction,Vatel and Batman where she played Poison Ivy.She was also surprisingly funny in The Producers.Uma oozes sex appeal and yet is not threatening to women.
A nice and shiny Instyle cover.I do buy the magazine so I’m looking forward to my copy.
