What To Wear To A Sophisticated Event? Outfit Inspired By Karlie Kloss

As you well know, New York Fashion Week is history now. As a matter of fact, as we speak, London Fashion Week’s third day is on a roll (Burberry today! Yaay!) but I have some unfinished NYFW business I’d like to submit to your attention as well.

Karlie Kloss was appointed as the new face of Mercedes Benz as they already gotten us used to pairing a very high profile model with one of their very high profile cars. This time it’s the Mercedes Benz CLA Class and it was actually launched a few days ago, on February 12th 2013 at the Lincoln Center (you may remember we mentioned something about a Ryan McGinley ad she did for Mercedes? Well, you can watch it after the jump).

For the fancy occasion, Karlie was there too. And what she wore for the occasion is the reason I wanted to do this story. Because her look is the perfect answer to a potential dilemma starting like this: ‘what to wear for a sophisticated event?’:

A black tux! Yes, it’s such a balanced outfit for a day – to – evening event that doesn’t revolve around fashion or something highly glamorous but still is high profile nevertheless!

Black tux with loose tux pants worn with a sheer black top. Put some lipstick on, some pretty fancy sandals, mess – up your hair and you’re good to go. At least in my book. The perfect no – stress, no – fuss but a lot of style, personality and elegance in this look.

I tried to emulate it via polyvore and above you have the set I came up with, very similar although clearly more accessorized. You can forget about the accessories, the look is strong enough on its own. I know I’m on a black streak lately, as you can easily observe that tendency in my polyvore sets, but I think it’s because of the winter – I’m not too good with moist weather.
