The Royal Wedding will be soon upon us and I can only hope for it to go smooth and happy, without any unpleasantness. As we’re getting closer to the big day, more and more memorabilia appears. Some are noteworthy, some not so much.

In the noteworthy category there goes New Balance with their special edition of New Balance 576 sneakers. 10 pairs with the Will & Kate name on have been produced especially for the occasion. Much in the style of those cute Converse sneakers we talked about in the past. Wait, there’s more: any Will & Kate couple out there can win a pair of the special limited edition New Balance 576 sneakers! Isn’t that sweet? (more information on the NB facebook here; via)

Oh dear…and indeed NO WAY!!

Lots of English complain so I bet these end up in the sales.

I’m gonna watch the coverage though from start until the end. It’s on a nice time here in my country and I surround myself with a fun breakfast etc. :D

Oh god…

All the normal English people are fed up of hearing about the royal wedding. It seems only old people and foreigners are absolutely interested!

It’s embarassing all the more to see so much tacky merchandise being made for the occasion. They’re two young people that want to get married at the end of the day.

The way their wedding goes won’t be telling of how well they will represent England from then on.

In fact most English people complain that neither of them have jobs, and live simply on royal benefits. This wedding is possibly the most they would have done for England, or themselves.

@trix, nicely said! I feel the same way and I am ever so glad that I am not in the UK for this! But the way you describe Kate and Will you make them sound like Chav’s with great benefits! : )
I will not be watching this, but I do wish them well, as one does for most wedding couples.

Here in the Netherlands we complained back in 2002 about Willem-Alexander and Máxima’s wedding too. There was even a riot because her father Zorregieta was once a member of the horrifying Argentian Videla regime. And that was way before the crisis. In the mean time, Máxima, a very charming and intelligent woman, has become the most popular member of our royals.

Our royals are somewhat ‘cheaper’ than yours. Besides the Queen and W.A. and Máxima all the others earn their own living!!! We’re far more modern I guess? Also the merchandise was not over the top.

On the other hand: as it seems thousands of tourists come to your country and bring money in? Plus most working people get a day off. And the BBC earns money with the coverage. So look on the bright side…..

And as it seems people already camp in London in tents for a good view? Another thing we Dutch don’t do. I think that’s really silly. ;)

Trix, short name for our Queen by the way, I wish you strength. And don’t forget; the whole world suffers due to the recession…….

Hmm, just saw the news: the majority of the English’: 74% wants the monarchy to stay. Same percentage as in my country. In South-London people are yet busy to organise street parties……

I have a bit mixed feelings. On one hand I like us to keep on being a monarchy as a part of our culture but if Beatrix has gone, despite I like W.A. and the charming and fashionable Máxima, I’m not so sure if I see the need any longer…sighs…..in any case it’s Queen’s Day next Saturday and if possible I’m gonna get nuts as ever as most Dutch do that day. :)
