Why this? Because although I’m a rocker at heart, a trip – hop-er by inspiration, a jazz lover by passion and oh-so many others, I enjoy keeping au jour with the current music events. And Katy Perry seems to be quite a musical happening nowadays. More so – it’s challenging for me, as an outsider, to write about something like this. It brings a fresh perspective on things. Sometimes.
Some other times, it brings just the usual. Like this Harper’s Bazaar December 2010 cover. Who would be tempted to get inside an issue that’s starting like that (you can admire the dullness of the newsstands cover right after the jump)? It’s not inviting not even for a Katy Perry fan. Who’s supposedly attracted by her ice cream cones performances and not her polished, un-cartoonish looks. Either way, here’s what I found to be more interesting: the subscribers cover. Not astonishingly original, far from it, but quite the cover, in comparison with the newsstands one! (click through to discover more!)
So why is Katy Perry on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar December 2010? Because she just got married, that’s why! And she got married with Russell Brand. That’s quite something, given his past addictions history. Now a reformed man, Mr Brand has turned an honest woman out of Katy Perry, pop phenomenon, convinced catholic and now Harper’s Bazaar cover girl. The pictorial, shot by Alexi Lubomirski is pretty and charming and nothing cartoonish or ice cream coated. It’s a pictorial suited for a lady like Katy Brand. How do you like Katy? i love Katy in elegant style
What an astonishing beauty she is. Absolutely gorgeous Katy!
I bought 3 copies of the subscriber’s cover on NEWS STAND. I didn’t realize Harper’s Bazaar does that sometimes. I wish they did the same thing for their December 2009 issue.
Katy Perry or not, with that subscribers cover, it’s amazing Harper’s Bazaar had the balls to so blatantly ripoff one of the most famous Vogue covers.
