The Cape Is The New It Coat

When you leave your house, keep your blanket on! Look at Carine Roitfeld! She does! Is the cape a far more stylish alternative to the conventional clothing pieces? (or simply a way to transcend yourself to a super-hero status like Carine not long ago?)

Is it a quicker way to get dressed? Is it a good camouflage? Would you wear one? And if yes, which? what occasions? (photos via 1, 2)

Ah, you recall that photo of Carine in her Lady Gaga outfit? ( Well I still say that Gaga nicked the look from Female Superheroes, they have been styling that look since forever!) Well the cape is the next logical step for Carine…She is now SuperEditor! ;)

I have three different capes!
I’m deffinevelly a capegirl,i love them , they are comfortable ,easy

they are very useful, as I said in one of other comments I made, I have my daughter whom I carry in a wrap and I use a cape to envelop us, and when you go in streets you see some people with capes.

ps:mines are not like this of Carine!!

I’ve also an old cape. Very dark green wool. Oh, it’s hot again because Carine say so? But Carine is on her way to a car. She doesn’t walk with groceries or a baby or three children right? I wear, no wore that cape in early Spring or soft Autumn weather. And only when I’ve nothing to carry along. It’s not suitable with the wind and the rain like now. Brrrr….and the first photo looks indeed like blanket and a bit old lady like. It does surprises me that Carine made that choice?

Oh, I saw capes in shops of late….I wear that oldie these days at home when it’s really very cold and I sit for a long time watching a film. (Safes heat – safes the envoriment!)

I don’t have a cape. Though I appreciate the “Super”- dimension of it (I laughed my tears out Ellington! Super Editor), Adriana is right, I don’t find it very helpful when actually having to save the day ;) ! I cherish my ginormous scarves (I have two wraps more than scarves, very suitable for the evening or the cold, on a fancy night out or for quick errands – one it’s brown, fleece, with two pockets and the other is black, shiny, almost glittery and very heavy – I don’t know the fabric mix, but it works wonderfully both as a giant scarf and a stylish evening wrap).

café au lait you’re right, it goes great when carrying your baby in a wrap!

I did, however, liked Carine’s stripey suit and the matched cape. That I thought was a wonderful look! very feminine and official looking at the same time! Beautiful! (and the hat? great way to break the ensemble! I almost bought a hat the other night because of that picture!)

I love capes! They’re so chic! I had been on a very very long search for the perfect cape and i finally found the most amazing mint condition vintage piece from the 60s that i just can’t wait to wear!

The second ensemble is timeless chic and the hat as well the sunglasses and shoes give it a fun edgy touch.

(With that shoes in the EU wheather the last month: the car must be waiting for her…..)
