Cate Blanchett Vanity Fair February 2009 Vs. Vogue December 2004

My beloved lady, Cate Blanchett looks every inch a royalty on the cover of the new Vanity Fair February 2009! (can you believe we’re already talking about February Magazines? Time just flies by!)

What’s interesting is that these photos, taken by the oh-so-famous and epic photographer Annie Leibovitz look so similar to a previous photo session of these two wonderful women for Vogue December 2004. Coincidence or lack of inspiration, the similar pictures don’t diminish Cate’s charm or Annie’s talent. Who are we to say how much work they’re supposed to put in a magazine shoot after the Holidays? (don’t miss the rest of the pictures right after the jump)

I must, however, confess my concern about the repetitive nature of magazine photo spreads. Be it intentional or purely incidental, these don’t escape the vigilant eye of the reader, avid lover of beauty and fashion who’s often disappointed with the outcome. Which one do you prefer more? 2004 Cate? Or 2009 Cate? ‘coz Annie’s just the same! (photos via tfs)

In a word Fa bu lust.
She’s iconic and its pointless to decree what year was her summit because she’s timeless and well on her way to becoming a film legend.

Lady Cate, as always classy and beautiful.

Kpriss, I agree the repetitive nature of magazin photospreads and covers has began to bore me. All I think these days is “ah, well again a beautiful, fabulous, marvelous cover/shoot….”

I love and adore Cate. I like the Vanity Fair cover because she looks like the Oscar that she should win!
Yes it seems that the magazines just churn out these covers and think that we will not notice. Its like the don’t care as long as they get their monthly numbers.

The Vogue cover is better, better Cate image, better “diffuse” concept. Better typography order. totally a Greek goddess style .

The vanity cover is darkest, crazy typography around the body, the photo of Cate does not help to much, colorless and too angular shoulders and waist.
