Outfit of The Day – Kate Beckinsale Chic City Grunge

Today’s outfit is inspired by Kate Beckinsale. She was spotted out and about with her husband in Santa Monica on December 23rd wearing this casual dress and vintage boots.

So I searched the Internet for you and found these pieces to create an outfit that I called Chic City Grunge inspired by Kate Beckinsale. Easy to wear, easy to please, just give it a try!

Let’s say you just had a gorgeous Louis Vuitton handbag for Christmas and you just want to be sure it’s the real thing. How can you tell?

I can only give you the basics, but most of the times, it’s quite enough to determine whether your handbag is designer-made or designer-inspired.

You begin by taking a good look at the bag. Even if 90% of the fashion houses moved their production overseas, the materials and the overall look has a very high quality standard. There should be no loose or missing stitches, the color of the thread should be evenly spaced. For the leather bags, the logo should be engraved on it (not just printed on the surface).

I don’t always approve Paris Hilton’s choices in outfits but this time I so strongly disagree that I absolutely have to write down about her sister’s sense of fashion.

Seems like hot Maui sun melted all that style Paris usually has.

She chose a black outfit (black one-shredded-piece swimsuit that cannot be watered, since she’s not taking a single ocean dip all Christmas long), a mini skirt to cover up the upper bruises on her skinny legs (since you can easily spot the blemished skin on her legs), hideous ballerina light blue flats and a black and white handbag that seems to fit her horrible teenager hat.

The only thing that flashes on her this time (besides her being so horribly dressed) is that pink Sony Cybershot 8MP $400 digital camera along with her diamond encrusted Blackberry.

Her sister, on the other hand is breathtakingly put together. The piece I love about what she’s wearing is that huge white bow Valentino tote (the model is called XCB 873 A LAA-BO) from the Spring-Summer 2008 collection – matching her jewelry v-neck dress (absolutely fabulous! Please, if you know who designed it, give us a hand here, it’s quite a dress for the summer!) her bear feet in the sand, just beautiful!
Way to go Nicky!

Australia opened the stores today for what’s called “The Boxing Day” – the day the day-after shopping rush, full of hot deals and presents being returned/exchanged.

At the David Jones sales opening, Sydney had a very important guest – Natalie Imbruglia singer turned model now an actress wannabe. Until now, the news is just normal, nothing unusual.

Just take a look at the pictures. Wearing these incredibly sexy Christian Louboutin peep toe platforms (app $690) and a print embroidered dress with black ribbon bows, Natalie Imbruglia looks like a good old granny working the garden. And who chopped her hair by herself the very morning because nobody came to see her and do her hair. Sooo sad!

What was she thinking doing that Mary Poppins on us? Anyway, if you do find whoever made that dress, please report so I’ll know where NOT to buy my dresses!

Holidays treat: a retro glam fashion show previewing the swim suits trends in 2008.

It seems blue became the new it nail polish color. We’re being tempted with this trend for some time now and I still cannot convince myself to try it out.

Well, maybe I’ll just wait till spring, so I can put on the new Chanel makeup collection. Or summer, to match it with a classic navy print. After years of black polish high on top, it would be the right time to make a change.

Not so long ago, when she was awarded The Sexiest Woman Alive, Scarlett Johansson admitted having troubles with her blonde hair.

My dad is Danish and he’s a natural blonde. I’ve even taken a clipping from his hair to the salon so I can have it tinted the same color!

I must say this is one of the strangest ways to pick a hair color but hey, it’s Scarlett, right? Maybe even Woody Allen overheard that and found it was reason enough to cast her in his films.

Passing from her dirty blonde to her dad’s Danish blonde seemed rewarding since she’s posing in “Dream in Blonde” for the new L’Oreal 2008 add campaign. Long wavy blonde locks, red lips, pearl ring, tulle dress, that “lost in translation” signature expression, perfectly retro for a new commercial year and just as Scarlett as always for others.
