Matching Haute Couture With Fast Fashion Labels Yes, You Can!

The proof in images! One, actually, as it retained my attention with that lovely mini tan Hermes bag! (have I told you I’m a Hermes fan? Maybe not in the open, but I’m sure you figured it out already given the signs!)

This lovely young lady matched her Hermes bag and her simple black high heels Christian Louboutin red soles shoes with clothes from Zara. Toned down yet carefully studying the details of her look, she managed a wonderful mix between haute labels and fast fashion brands. Didn’t she? (you can vote right after the picture) (photo via)

Natalia Vodianova’s YSL Spring Summer 2010 Manifesto

Though I really like Natalia Vodianova, she never struck me as an YSL Manifesto type of person before. It’s her face: to ethereal and poetic for the YSL Manifesto woman. TO my eyes.

Then again, so were the previous ones, so maybe that’s what it’s all about: bringing out the YSL spirit in every woman? Here’s Natalia Vodianova’s YSL Manifesto Spring Summer 2010! (click through for two more videos from the YSL Manifesto SS 2010 shooting with everybody’s favorites Inez and Vinoodh) (via)

Are You Fit To Be A Fashion Designer? Weekend Psychology

After concluding that today was one of those days when you find out that even your cat is aiming to be a fashion designer, this comes as the natural question: who is really fit to be a designer?

Psychologists hurry with an answer, giving away a profile, an ideal personality profile for the ideal designer! It’s pretty scientific for a change, diluting the marketing mambo jumbo into few logical profiles. If you’re into it, then you should hit the jump to find out more about this psychostudy!

Lady Gaga To Design Collection With Donatella Versace?

What is wrong with the world today? Is there anyone, anyone out there in the entertainment business, who isn’t reaching for a fashion designer (however brief) career?

Lady Gaga is rumored to have her own clothing collection in the works! Of course she’s doing this with the help of someone high in fashion: Donatella Versace. The Gaga Versace Collection is not a sure thing (a Versace spokesperson having denied the rumors), and I keep my fingers crossed for the rumor to prove wrong! It only seems like a very desperate marketing gesture from Donatella… and that is so sad, sad sad! (Not to mention the only reference I can get about Gaga wearing Versace is when she had a pair of them vintage shades with the Medusa blazon on) (via)

We Will Miss You So Much, Lee!

Talking about designers and respect: on February 25th it was Alexander McQueen’s funeral. I won’t bother you with who’s wearing what for his funeral, I’ll just stick to the immense sorrow drowning my heart when I think we have him no more!

And there he goes… (photos via)

Jessica Stam Designs Collection For Macy’s

What were we talking about yesterday? That Agyness goes online with a magazine? And that we were lucky that she didn’t get the designer bug?

I’m delighted to bring you this happy news: Jessica Stam is currently designing a capsule collection for Macy’s! And because I don’t remember having noticed Jesssica Stam’s particular style (has she any, by the way?), I have to put the originality of her designs under a big question mark. You were saying that it was easier to get this work done because they’re already in the industry. Yes, undoubtedly, unarguably yes. But for me it all comes down to respect. Do your respect your (potential) client enough to give him/her something new, something perfectly compatible (quality wise) or are you just following the herd? After all, everyone’s a designer nowadays, everyone’s a fashion sheep. (via, photo via)

Wear Your Oversized Trench With A Belt!

I like my clothes roomy and comfy. And because of that, I tend to wear my clothes a size, two, even three sizes up.

Looking at this fire red trench coat, I feel there’s a world of good in wearing your clothes few sizes up! Adding the belt was a brilliant idea! Bonus the animal print French beret? It all comes down to “perfection, baby, perrrrrfection!”. What say you? (do you wear your clothes a size up? Have you ever considered that?) (photo via)
