Old Trends Are New Again. Fashion Always Returns
August 16th, 2010 by kpriss
Have you noticed the way the fashion wheel turns? It just goes round and round and what was old is now new again! Dreft is supposedly taking care of your clothes because Fashion Always Returns.
Take a look at those then and now images and say it isn’t so! It’s purely brilliant, fashionable marketing genius without moderation! I’m loving it for what it shows and for what it stands for! Yes, we should all take care of our clothes, more so since fashion’s wheel may come round and we have no idea when exactly… Come, come, hit the jump and have you say! (the campaign was made by Leo Burnett, Sao Paolo, Brazil under the creative directions of Ruy Lindenberg and the artistic directions of Breno Balbino. Copywriter Fábio Nagano and photographed by Gustavo Zylbersztajn – between us – I wonder how many of those involved in the campaign have a street style blog or follow at least 10 of the most fashionable street style blogs out there!) Skinny Jeans For Children?
August 16th, 2010 by kpriss
No, there’s no joke here. If you’ll go down the children department in almost any store now, you’ll find a fair share of skinny jeans. For little girls and for little boys.
While I look at skinny jeans for/on grown ups and slightly frown, I can’t help but wonder if it was really necessary to constrict our young into wearing such a tight garment. They say it’s been seriously tested and skinny jeans don’t raise any velocity or mobility issues in our children’s activities, I’m still having a hard time believing it. (we’re talking about age categories from babies up: if your wish is to find a skinny jeans suitable from birth, you’ll be able to for it exists). Would you dress your babies with skinny jeans? How about your toddles? Your kids? Do you think it’s fashionable/safe/healthy? (via)
Vivienne Westwood Fall 2010 Accessories Ad Campaign
August 16th, 2010 by kpriss
How do you feel about Vivienne Westwood? I wholeheartedly love her! For the woman she is, for the activist she wants to be and for the fashionista she was born to be!
That being said, I really don’t understand why she goes with Juergen Teller for her campaigns! There she goes at it again, for the Fall Winter 2010 2011 ad campaign, at least as far as the Accessories campaign goes. It’s Juergen, but the result is so much more superior to what Marc Jacobs has displayed earlier. With Vivienne Westwood, every picture tells a story. These ones, it appears, tell the story of Leonard Peltier. Activism much? (via)
Karl Lagerfeld And Baptiste Giabiconi Do St Tropez
August 16th, 2010 by kpriss
Now this is so wrong, in so many ways, I can’t find the resources to make it funny. Karl Lagerfeld introduced young Baptiste Giabiconi to the St Tropez world. And there’s nothing wrong with that, by all means, uncle Karl needs some entertainment!
But when his young protégé is wearing such a ridiculous ensemble that makes Karl’s actually look classy (in a sugardaddy-esque kind of way), I’m worried. It’s totally Quantum Leap effect for me. The grown-up dressed in a boy’s clothes and the mentor who just jumped from his quiet chateau life circa Louis XVI. This makes Zoolander look like Einstein! (via)
Spots Vs. Stripes. The Cadbury Game
August 16th, 2010 by kpriss
What do you think? Spots or stripes? Before anything, please check out the following short animation film. It’s fantastic, it’s funny, it’s sport-ish.
And all that because it’s actually an ad campaign made by Cadbury for the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Already a big hit on British television, this new Cadbury ad is a charmer, totally worth your time and attention! Enjoy (and have a great Monday!) (via)
Kristen Bell Shoes Collection For ShoeDazzle
August 16th, 2010 by kpriss
And because branding your name does pay out, Kristen Bell chose charity over profit and designed a shoe for ShoeDazzle. The shoe is called “the Midge” and though it’s not dazzling new as concept or model, it’s all excused because it’s done in the name of charity.
To be perfectly honest, the drawing looks far greater than the actual shoes (you can see the end result right after the jump), but if it’s comfy, they’ll make up for the average aesthetics. 100% proceeds will go towards the Art of Elysium, a 1997-founded organization engaging actors and musicians in dealing with children suffering from serious medical conditions. It’s just another celeb product, only slightly different, isn’t it? (via; you can check out Kristen’s design venture here; more about the Art of Elysium here)
Tito Puente Vs Santana Oye Come Va
August 15th, 2010 by kpriss
I’ve known this song practically all my life. And still, something made it new and fresh these days. Must be the summer. Or simply its undying charm.
Thank you for this amazing week, for your great and insightful comments! I hope you have a great weekend and I wish you have one of the greatest weeks ever! Enjoy Tito Puente’s Oye Como Va and right after the jump Carlos Santana’s rendition of Oye Como Va!
Chris Evans Is Gucci Guilty Too
August 14th, 2010 by kpriss
Now in case you were wondering who was the other half of the Gucci Guilty couple – it’s Chris Evans! (usually they cast anonymous male models alongside female celebrity in ad campaigns. They just make the celebrity shine more. Not this time, it seems)
However, the Guilty couple doesn’t look as half as involved as they should, since Frida Giannini’s idea for the campaign worked for the English Patient story more than this bland imagery. However, I have to ask again: why the guilt, Frida? (via)
I think everyone, in the past, has had a moment—something romantic or sexy or sensual—that lasts for the rest of their lives, […] That’s the provocation for the commercial: the essence of the strong experience. I hope these images will stay in people’s minds for a long time.
