When it comes to babies, you know me – I can hold back! Say hello to Flynn, Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom’s Baby Boy!
Hello little man! We won’t take too much of your time, looks like you’re busy there! And congratulations to your wonderful parents (especially for that beautiful, beautiful mommy of yours! Just look at her happy face)! Also – wouldn’t hurt to see your lovely face next time! I’m sure everyone’s waiting to see who you’re taking after! (either way, you’re gonna be one handsome lil’ fellow!) (via)
Red Carpet Swans Jennifer Lopez In Marchesa Vs Gwyneth Paltrow In Alaia
January 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Remember I told you I watched The Black Swan a while back and that I absolutely loved it? That doesn’t automatically means I will appreciate anything swans related or ballerina related out and about. Does it?
Because what I’m about to show you falls into the “my life is like a movie” category. Or “I deserved those awards because I’m the real swan here and everyone will notice me as such, or else!”. Jennifer Lopez took the after Globes parties wearing a pale pink ballerina like dress from Marchesa while Gwyneth Paltrow attended a Baume & Mercier event in Switzerland wearing a more casual approach of the soft pink ballerina look signed by Azzedine Alaia.
Yes, I will ask you who’s your favorite after hours ballerina and more: I will ask you if you could sport such a look fully knowing that there’s a ballerina movie making the rounds of the world’s cinemas and more? (also – why not stay truthful to the story and wear a downright tutu? Eventually created by Rodarte, just like in the movie?) Also – if green is the new white, then soft pink is definitely the new black! (photos via 1, 2)

Lara Stone’s Vogue Paris February 2011
January 19th, 2011 by kpriss
And so it is… Just like they said it would be… And thus, with the words of Damien Rice (The Blower’s Daughter) begins the acknowledging of a fashmagazine deja-vu. And no, it’s not about Lara Stone‘s full Gucci look on the cover of Vogue Paris, February 2011. It’s about her pose, her attitude. Lara Stone as seen by Carine Roitfeld. Such a tired cliche, really!
When I’m confronted with this kind of overused image, I feel slightly hopeful that Emmanuelle Alt’s vision would spare us from the eyebrow bleached Stone in the future (though I’m always grateful they use actual models for most of their covers). It’s a cover you either like or dislike, there’s hardly any inbetweens. I fall for the latter, how’s your stand? Photographer Mario Sorrenti. Nicole Richie’s Winter Kate, House Of Harlow Spring Summer 2011
January 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Have you ever wondered what your life would have been like if you were… a fashion designer? I know, I know, it’s a wild question, but I have this teeny tiny confession to make: I always was and I think I will always continue to be fascinated with clothing designers (and object designers as well).
Gifted people who take what I can only describe as a pile of bulk fabric and turn it into magnificent clothing. Yeah, so that was me trying to get all emotional about designers. Which is not necessarily the case with Nicole Richie’s Winter Kate And House of Harlow 1960 Spring Summer 2011 collections.
Because I don’t fully believe that she represents the “designer” for these brands. She may be the inspiration, the financer, the spokesface, but I think that’s where it ends. So here she is, talking about the above mentioned labels at the Spring 2011 lookbook shooting. Do you think she’s a genuine designer? (via)

The Latest In Men Fashion The Louis Vuitton Sleeve. Tattoo Sleeve
January 19th, 2011 by kpriss
The Men Fashion Weeks are happening as we speak. Distinguished designers and esteemed models catwalk down presenting the latest and the hottest in men fashion.
In the mean time, at the opposite pole of the good taste this is happening! The Louis Vuitton tattooed sleeve! (and beyond – it actually looks like it’s expanding on the chest area also). I read somewhere that that some highly tattoed celebrity admitted to having been drunk for all her tattoos.
How about this guy then? What happened to him? I’m impatiently waiting for a sequel with his left arm entirely tattooed in Chanel. Or his monogram of choice. Also – given that Thierry Mugler’s inspiration was skeleton – ink, are we to believe that this is the creativity source of the season for Louis Vuitton? (via)
Scarlett Johansson’s Moet And Chandon Campaign. More
January 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Incidentally being the day when our baby boy turns three (months old), I came across more images from the Moet and Chandon ad campaign with Scarlett Johansson. And guess what – it turns out the campaign is way more bubbly than I had imagined and in no manner close to Scarlett in Champagne land, innocent and sweet as it seemed to be from the preview.
In short? Scarlett glamorizes the being and acting drunk at a higher level than I care to respect, advertorially speaking. Also – the plastic vine is definitely more kitsch than chic, wouldn’t you say? (Moet and Chandon)

Kate Moss Kisses Lea T For Love Summer 2011 Cover
January 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Love. Magazine. Besides being a fashion magazine and having to live up to its “Love” title, Katie Grand’s edited fashmag goes out and blasts the actual idea and significance of “Love”.
The Spring Summer 2011 issue cover proudly shows Kate Moss kissing Lea T. . Sure, it’s an interesting sight to see and quite a challenging moral issue, I’m convinced. I only find myself more and more saddened by the fashion-ization and desacralization of Love by the fashindustry. And in what ways is this suppose to fight for what Lea T stands for? In my eyes it’s a sad and desolate state she’s in, pray to whatever bounds from the fashpeople’s imaginations. This is a human being’s life, why make it something less important than it really is?
Photographer: Mert and Marcus. Also – doesn’t that look too much like Inez and Vinoodh’s iconic Lanvin ad from 2010? (if you’re not entirely satisfied with this cover, wait till Justin Bieber photographed by Terry Richardson becomes available! no, it’s not, though I so wished it would be a joke!) (Love via)

Katie Holmes For Ann Taylor Summer 2011 Ad Campaign
January 18th, 2011 by kpriss
Lovely Katie Holmes is the star of the Spring Summer 2011 Ann Taylor ad campaign. She’s looking impeccable (with a little help from the photo retouching team) and I’m absolutely convinced the campaign will be a complete success.
Photographed by Tom Munro, Katie‘s digitally shrunken self is the picture of style perfection, looking feminine and intriguing (thankfully they didn’t let her do her trademark smirk… ahem smile). I just wonder if this doesn’t hurt Katie’s commercial interests as she would more logically represent her Holmes & Yang label more than anything. Are we to understand that her brand is so successful it doesn’t even require promotional work? (via)
