Jessica Alba’s Blue Versace Dress For 2011 Bafta Awards

I’m picking up on a trend here. Something to do with very bright, vivid colors. Jessica Alba was wearing a gorgeous blue Atelier Versace maxi dress from the Spring 2011 Collection for the 2011 Bafta Awards Ceremony last night. And man, was she pretty!

She’s no stranger to cuts like this and the bold colors seem to fit her wonderfully. Even her pretty braids hair style is something we’ve seen her wearing before. I’m not complaining, either way, she is quite a bright sighting on the Red Carpet. And the Atelier Versace dress is stunning! I wish I had one of those hanging in my closet, wouldn’t you? Emma Watson’s Valentino Couture Dress For 2011 Bafta Awards

Recently having loved, loved, loved the Valentino Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection, I wasn’t surprised to see it on the Red Carpet already!

Wearing it oh so well was Emma Watson on the Bafta 2011 Awards Red Carpet last night. It was far from being my favorite piece from the ethereal Valentino collection, but it suited Emma‘s frame and complexion pretty well. She was lovely, charming and… did I mention lovely? Ah, yes! Don’t you think she wears it well? (more images after the jump, click here for the gallery!) (photos via 1, 2)

Chunky Sweater, Skinny Pants. Perfection

I know I was talking about a smooth transition to the summer wardrobe. And by that I was also implying that the chunky sweaters and the knitted pieces should find their place back at the bottom of your closet.

However, I admit I may not be jumping into it too soon. I just discovered the most amazing simple yet oh so very chic outfit for cold weather. A seriously oversized chunky knitted sweater, black, paired with black skinny pants (above the ankle), leopard print flats and a black hat. And a fire red patent leather Chanel bag. And the gorgeous girl who’s wearing all that? Anja Rubik, one of my favorite models out there!

Also – whatever you do, don’t forget your red Chanel bag! It’s a model must! (don’t carried away by my personal opinion, cast your vote right after the image!) (photo Altamira)

Lara Stone Covers Vogue China March 2011

Has the gorgeous Lara Stone become history once Carine Roitfeld’s Vogue Paris reign has ended? I highly doubt it since she just covered the French edition of Vogue, the February issue.

However, there she goes, covering Vogue China March 2011, looking all statuesque and summery, like torn from a page of 80s fashion. It’s a night and day theme so she gets to be on the cover twice, actually.

Photographer: Inez and Vinoodh. Also – despite of the bold coloring, the natural set, the interesting double cover idea, and Lara herself, does anyone else but me finds this bland? (photos via)

Gorgeous Floral Headpiece

Few days ago I told you I was up to my ears in a diy project for my sweet baby girl. I made her two headbands decorated with flowers made by moi. They turned out so cute and charming, I may have to give into the diy temptation again.

However, this massive floral piece Sasha is wearing (you know me and my love for all things Sasha Pivovarova) is downright gorgeous. For photographic purposes, at least, she fills the daily chromatic needs of one amateur fashionista aka moi. Would you envision your charming self wearing one of these? Same color? different? same texture? (photo Vogue UK via)

Lady Gaga’s Vogue March 2011

I actually took the time to read the piece they written in Vogue. About Lady Gaga! Can you believe it? If someone told me few days ago that Gaga would be on the cover of Vogue and that I’ll be reading her interview, I’d say no way! Not unless volcanoes start spreading ice cubes!

And still, here I am, after having read the story and did not actually took enough time to weigh on all this. I chose writing about it straight on, as it comes right out of my heart / mind. So Vogue US appears to be running out of buyers besides trying so hard to inject a young spirit into this old, almost magical magazine.

Almost magical? yes, almost because, as far as I know, magic doesn’t come easy and surely isn’t as popular as Lady Gaga is. Well educated and allegedly very polite and ceremonial, Lady Gaga as portrayed in the latest Vogue March 2011 issue made quite an impression on Jonathan Van Meter (the author of the Vogue article), With her pink wig and arrogant stare, Lady Gaga will stop at nothing before conquering the world. Not even from shamelessly getting a Vogue feature just before launching her new album! You know the same old Vogue trick, except this time it’s not an actress promoting her upcoming movie. (the story continues after the jump with more images, click here for the gallery!)

Michelle Obama, Everyday Icon. The Book

In the light of recent style events, Michelle Obama is, in my perspective, the most fashionable First Lady ever. Some may still have some objections to that but time will tell…

Kate Betts, former Harper’s Bazaar editor, fascinated about how the people looks at Michelle O’s fashion choices, has written a book: Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style. Colorful, bold and smart, why shouldn’t a First Lady be fashionable? Would you buy the book? (don’t miss the video right after the jump!) (you can buy the book here; via)

Converse By Marimekko Sneakers Collection

It’s been a while since our last Converse discussion, hasn’t it? Well, today it’s a big day since we’ll get to talk about Converse. They just announced (and shown to the world) their recent Marimekko sneakers collection!

Yes! Converse teamed up with Marimekko for a fun, colorful collection of sneakers! The Spring Summer 2011 season collection could bring you a Jack Purcell, a Chuck Taylor or a P.J. with Marimekko prints. I wish they could have developed a more colorful line, but I’ll take what they’re offering anyway! In Purcell, please! how about you?
