Nicola Formichetti Doesn’t Like Fat People. Nicola Vs. W Magazine

In short: there’s a controversy regarding an interview with Nicola Formichetti (Thierry Mugler’s creative director, Lady Gaga’s stylist) from the August 2011 issue of W Magazine. In the said interview, among other (important, relevant) issues, Nicola said he doesn’t like fat people.

The next day after his quotes went viral on the fashinterwebs, Nicola said he was misquoted. Now W answered also, saying that they went through the audio and the transcripts of the interview and (guess what?) Nicole wasn’t misquoted, he said those exact words expressing his exact feelings about fat people. Refinery also found the below image (at right) in Nicola’s Facebook profile pictures folder. I rest my case. (after the jump, the quotes)

Rachel Weisz Bvlgari Jasmin Noir Perfume Ad Campaign. Bvlgari Changes The Girl, Keeps The Lion

When Rachel Weisz was announced as the spokesface of Bvlgari’s fragrance “Jasmin Noir”, I was really curious to see what the campaign will look like. Rachel is no ordinary beauty and highlighting her, if done right, can lead to a magnificent result.

Today, it would appear, fragments of her Mert & Marcus photographed campaign have surfaced. If it’s a marketing trick operated by Bvlgari, I hope they take note and act consequently: the ads are static, hardly original and evoke a persistent feeling of déjà-vu. If you’re wondering why is that, just think “recession” : in difficult times, recycle and reuse are the main priorities. Bvlgari’s lion from Kristen Dunst’s Mon Jasmin Noir ad gets to star alongside Rachel Weisz too! Oh, what a lucky lion! (via)

Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall Winter 2011 2012 Paris Fashion Week

So there we go: Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2011. Sans Galliano. It’s like a lifeless mannequin parading up and down the catwalk, with no music, no sparkle, nothing.

I’m not trying to diminish the importance of Galliano’s defamatory declarations, I’m just trying to say that this Dior Haute Couture collection was strange. With a thousand different references and inspiration sources, it came across more like an unleashed parrot than a coherent sartorial creation. Oh, did I forgot to mention the disco madness? Oh, where is fashion going? One of its masters tragically took his own life, another is being banned for life… whereto? (photos via)

Claudia Schiffer’s Cashmere Clothes Now Available

Remember we talked about Claudia Schiffer launching a cashmere collection with Iris von Arnim? Well, the collection just launched!

Claudia herself was there, wearing a cashmere tunic / dress, the only shortsleeved piece from the collection. This happened chez Colette, in Paris. Yes, the same week as the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week! First time designer and already a Paris Fashion Week, eh, Claudia? (via)

Armani Prive Fall Winter 2011 2012 Haute Couture Paris Fashion Show

I would like to be optimistic and declare that Giorgio Armani’s soul reason for this heavily Asian inspired collection is his involvement in the UNESCO foundation treating with the victims of the Japan earthquake. I think the overload of Japan inspiration from his latest Haute Couture show has more to do with the fact that the Asian market is a strategic financial opportunity for the house.

Either way, the Armani Privé Fall 2011 (Armani Privé is Armani’s Haute Couture label) is a wonderful collection, magical and head spinning. Especially with those Philip Treacy headpieces! Below you’ll find the looks I loved the most and a video of the collection. How did you liked Armani Prive fall winter 2011 2012? (photos via)

Jason Wu’s Melissa Shoes

For days now I have been thinking on and on about a pair of Vivienne Westwood Melissa heart pumps. For some reason, the thought that they’re impossibly cute stuck in my head and I can’t get it out unless I will try a pair!

However, the news about Jason Wu’s Melissa collection got me all dreamy and thinking I should maybe wait for next year? Jason Wu’s Ultragirl and Lady Dragon peep toe slingback make serious competition for my initial Vivienne Westwood hearts pumps. I can’t believe I’m actually dreaming about a pair of plastic shoes… or even two! (the Ultragirl ballerinas as accessorized by Jason Wu look so lady-ish and crazy cute!) Do you own a pair of Melissa’s Ultragirl and / or peep toe pumps? How do they feel? And if you don’t which one makes your heart flutter most? (via)

Each season, I’m impatiently waiting for Hermes to release their advertising campaign. And I must say that I’m never disappointed. Hermes Fall Winter 2011 2012 Ad Campaign makes no exception. The beauty, the magic!

Though it’s not yet certain who modeled and who photographed the campaign, this first image is amazingly dreamy and inviting. Can anyone identify the model and the photographer?

UPDATE: Thanks to the lovely people at tFS, the model has been identified as being Alana Zimmer as photographed by Nick Knight. Looking forward to the rest of the images!

Bjork Is Dazed & Confused August 2011

This is a great way to celebrate! Dazed and Confused reached its 200th published issue and having Bjork as a guest editor and covergirl is celebratory enough to make my head spin.

I’ve rarely seen a more unique performer than Bjork. She truly is one of a kind and amazing at what she does. Did you know she has a new album and tht she’s already touring the world promoting it? Called Biophilia, the album was inspired by a handful of musicologists, designers but also programmers and scientists. How do you like the Sam Falls photographed cover of Bjork as styled by Katy England? (Dazed)
