Chanel Couture Spring 2012 Blue Collection
January 25th, 2012 by kpriss
Blue. Pockets. Blue. Punk Hair. Chanel Couture Spring 2012 wasn’t all that complicated. Was it? Using an interesting setting – the interior of a commercial flight plane (what else for an “out of the blue” collection?), Karl Lagerfeld presented his last Haute Couture sartorial achievement to the fashworld.
In a very Chanel style, he also matched the nail polish to the collection’s (blue) spirit, launching what would undoubtedly be Summer 2012 must have nail polish! Of course there was the usual black & white thing, all in Chanel’s classic manner, there was the usual tweed and sequined elegance, but the key word still is blue (oh, and what about those sequined tights? Would you wear them? And the blue-ish nail polish? the entire collection can be seen here)
Victoria By Victoria Beckham Collection Releases Campaign Teaser
January 25th, 2012 by kpriss
As Victoria Beckham enjoyed serious worldwide success for her main fashion label, she thought that adding a more approachable brand is de rigueur for her designer portfolio. The first collection under Victoria by Victoria Beckham is going to be released this spring and so an ad campaign was (yet again) de rigueur.
Quentin Jones’ advertorial film for the above mentioned label is not yet released, and although rumor has it that Victoria herself is in it, the teaser trailer doesn’t say anything about that. Interesting visuals, nevertheless (but then, what would you expect from an illustrator like Quentin Jones?). I wonder if Victoria was counseled by Marc Jacobs for this brand move? (you know: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Victoria by Victoria Beckham.. Just saying.)
Ewan McGregor’s Menswear January 2012. Fashionable Movies
January 25th, 2012 by kpriss
One of the Men of Style we’ve covered here is the very talented Ewan McGregor who just happens to get fashion recognition through yet another lovely cover: Menswear magazine, January 2012. Why this cover? Because of his unconventional style in Hollywood’s catalogs and his movies (one of them is on the Oscars 2012 nominations list – Beginners’ Christopher Plummer is a runner up in the Best Supporting Actor Category). Where does fashion ends and movies begin? Or vice versa? (also – always bring a red suitcase in a photo for fashion reasons)
Armani Prive Spring 2012 Snake Inspired Couture Collection
January 25th, 2012 by kpriss
It’s really hard to believe fashion designers ignore the endless marketing possibilities The Red Carpet represents. With that in mind, Giorgio Armani worked his usual haute couture magic and spawned a reptilian Spring 2012 Armani Prive Couture collection.
It’s all in the sparkle, in the snakeskin’s cold and exotic beauty. And we all know someone who really loves snakes and is known to wear Armani on the Red Carpet – yes, that’s right, Angelina Jolie could be the perfect candidate for this exquisite Armani collection! Not to mention the Oscar 2012 nominations which were announced during the very show – to which, believe it or not, a nominee was assisting from the very First Row! (Jessica Chastain) So, what say you – will she wear something from this collection for the Oscars Red Carpet?
Mulberry Sweetens Up Brighton Beach For Spring Summer 2012
January 24th, 2012 by kpriss
Warm, sunny, sandy beaches have an entire new meaning for me now: Mulberry. If I won’t see giant lollypops and giant melted ice cream on a beach now, it just won’t be fashionable enough! And don’t blame it on me, it’s Mulberry through their Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign who is responsible for all this sweet sandy mess! Candies on the beach with Mulberry, ice cream shop with LV… hmm
Almodovar, Margherita Missoni And More Do Missoni’s New Ad Campaign
January 24th, 2012 by kpriss
Now that’s a high profile ad campaign! Missoni’s Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign was photographed by Juergen Teller in a famous Spanish locale: Madrid’s Villa Rosa.
You may be familiar with the place from Pedro Almodovar’s High Heels movie? Anyway, the association is not random as the campaign stars Almodovar himself alongside Angela Missoni, her daughters Teresa and Margherita, Rossy de Palma and Blanca Suarez, two of Almodovar’s favorite actresses (I’m guessing Penelope was engaged elsewhere?) and fashion darling Mariacarla Boscono. It’s an improvised campaign, so don’t put the entire mess on Teller’s back! I think I need a little moment to adjust – what are your feelings about this new campaign style? (check out the gallery after the jump!)
Christian Dior’s Couture Spring 2012
January 24th, 2012 by kpriss
The continuous mystery of Christian Dior’s creative succession hasn’t been cleared out yet. Heavily missing John Galliano’s fresh approach and effervescent perspective, there goes another collection signed by Bill Gayten.
Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture collection is taking a trip down memory lane with designs reminding some of the house’s most memorable styles (or should I say Galliano’s most memorable styles); only with sheer updates and contemporary style annotations. How do you like it? (I think it’s a bit too austere for me, especially after Atelier Versace’s edgy glamour) (the entire collection can be seen here)
Attending Menswear Fashion Week
January 24th, 2012 by kpriss
Is like going to the circus. A walking carnival of fashionable men parade up and down, all around the catwalk for your viewing pleasure. I sometimes ask myself what kind of rock am I living under since I’m not seeing these people walking down (my) street! Thank God for Fashion Week, what would we be without it? Or these fine fashion lessons?
