She who always seems to full of life and extremely energetic now has the stamina of a stuffed teddy bear. Good stylists and editors shouldn’t work against their client. But hey, who am I to complain? I always associated Valentino with bows and frills and all these thrill- ful, exciting girly details. Somehow, the image projected by Freja Beha Erichsen over the fashion world just doesn’t seem to include the girly stuff I mentioned. However, there she goes, in all her androgynous glory in Valentino’s Valentina Assoluto, the Perfume Ad Campaign! I was wondering, though, how is this boyish allure and neutral attitude fitting in the provided description: “much more nocturnal, more seductive”? {wwd}

After seeing the wonderful Kristen Stewart doing an amazing job for Balenciaga’s Florabotanica ad campaign, I was really curious to see what unearthly aesthetic, second – hand clothes and childish photoshop brings Balenciaga’s Fall Winter 2012 2013 ad campaign for both women and menswear!

And my curiosity was fully satisfied with a preview of the said campaign as provided through wwd. Steven Meisel photographed both campaigns and the styling is… well.. Better than Florabotanica, that’s for sure! I’d like, however, an honest opinion from someone who finds Balenciaga’s aesthetic really appealing. Someone who will apply a positive filter to all this (mess). Is there anyone who’d like to share visions with us? Enlighten us?

You know the latest debate in which the beauty industry is, again, labeled with poisonous attributes? Sulfates. Sulfates are found in cleansers – namely shampoos and body washes. Without sulfates, there’s no foam. But without sulfates, there’d be no irritations and no dryness either.

I’ve been trying to keep my beauty case as healthy as possible. Whenever possible. But at one point, engulfed by all the essential oils and impossible smelly natural soap bars, I turned to the internet, looking for more answers in the sulfate matter. And I found John Nollet, L’Oreal ambassador, who said, basically, that sulfates are OK for normal hair and low styling life regime – ready to embrace sulfates again?

“We don’t have to say sulfates are good or sulfates are bad; it all depends on your texture, your nature, and your hair habit. […]For this kind of hair [frequently styled hair, dyed, relaxed hair], we need to use product without sulfates because this hair is more sensitive and doesn’t need to have big detergents in it. If you have normal hair — and you don’t play with all these tools and you have natural hair without color — you don’t need to use this kind of product without sulfates.”
