Reese Witherspoon Does Vogue US November 2008

Reese Witherspoon on the cover of Vogue US for the November 2008 issue. The patriotic issue. The anniversary issue (20years of Wintour@Vogue).

Pictorial of Reese Witherspoon with Olivier Theyskens. He saw in her the perfect Ricci girl. I see more the more the Avon girl in her. Because Reese is popular. Reese is one of the people. You can’t say wrong about her because she’s done none. Such is the case with these photos. There’s nothing wrong about the shooting. There’s nothing special about it either (except for Theyskens ghostly appearance). I wish I could say something more, but to me she looks like she’s playing with clothes that don’t belong on her, in a setting which doesn’t suit her. This is November’s US Vogue main fashion feature to me. Something irréprochable we could easily overlook. Was Reese suitable for this November Vogue cover? Well to me she looks like what she does best and for a living… acting.
She looks nice and to tell you the truth I really don’t expect much from these magazines anymore so I am not really disappointed by this. I do like the trench coat and beret photo, its nifty looking.

Maybe it’s just that I really LIKE her, but I think she can pull off most of these looks. I agree with Ellington that the trench is far and away the best, but that red ball gown looks pretty spectacular on little Reese, too.

A week ago I watched “Walk the Line” again. The story is not correct (I’m a great fan of the Man in Black – Johnny Cash) but Reese and Joaquin did such a great job. Reese looked great in everything she wore. Among these clothes a red dress! Everything looks great on her… I’ve a trench and beret’s too and wears them regurly. So I see nothing really special there….But I like Reese as most people seems to do. What if she has dark secrets lol?
Anyway, a great looking Reese but a terrible cover due to the lay-out, it looks so cheap…..

I think it’s time for Vogue to reconsider its cover fonts. Because they appear tabloid-y when they should appear stylish. That, to my mind, is partly why the cover is unflattering . . .
