DIY Studded Shoes Inspired By The Latest Footwear Trends

I’ve been wanting a studded pair of slip on sneakers ever since I heard about the latest trends! However, time has a weird way of sneaking up on us so I ended up forgetting about the slip on sneakers until…. Until my daughter received a pair of espadrilles for her birthday!

A metallic fabric upper, hemp soles, everything looked so suitable for a studded embellishment! I asked for her approval and help (which was more like ‘assistance’ than active participation, but call me a paranoid mama, I like my babies away from the hot glue gun! It’s all mine! Hehe!)

So for all the curious out there, all it takes is a pair of slip on espadrilles or sneakers with plain solid color uppers and a handful of silver round plastic brackets. My loyal glue fun took care of the rest! It’s one of the easiest DIY projects – as long as you have a willing little one who wants to donate her birthday present for Mommy, to try on her do-it-yourself eccentricities!

I tried gluing the brackets first on a risk-free area, where it would be easily concealed in care of error. When it proved to be a success, I moved on to the upper side of the espadrilles, carefully cutting away the brackets from their ribbon and applying small dots of hot glue until I covered the entire shoe. Now I have a very trendy, fancy pair of studded espadrilles! For my daughter – smile – one day I’ll get my own birthday shoes to DIY!

There are many ways to add studs to a pair of shoes, gluing them was my choice, but you can always find some that go through the fabric, fastening on the other side, others that are ready to sew. Again, this was my choice, and I’m certainly not saying it’s the only one! Get your DIY wheels in motion and share your projects, can’t wait to hear what you came up with!

Very cute Kpriss!
But do you have to re-glue them?

thank you Ellington!
So far so good, but it’s ok even if they fall off, can’t wait to plug my glue gun and get to re-diy :-) I’m not expecting them to last past this season, she’s growing so fast!
