Okay, not just men, but I’ll just keep it manly for these festivities… Because Men of Style was suggested by our Birthday Girl (wink). We have eyeglasses wearers here in the Stylefrizz household! Two of the wee ones wear eyeglasses! Naturally, ever since we have the kids wearing specs, we were also exposed to the trends in the field. Year after year we see pretty much the same spectacle in the specialty stores: thin metal frames for prescription glasses.
We’re pretty much counter culture so we wanted something else for the kids – something less thin and less metallic. We wanted plastic frames! And we could barely find any! Because you see, my daaaahlings, plastic frames are nerdy. Geeky. Un-fashionable! I say stop that! Le Geek C’est Chic and you know it! Bring back thick black nerdy glasses!
And hereby some of the world’s most famous men (by entertaining standards, biensur) who have chosen the Geek Chic look! Horn rimmed glasses, black rimmed glasses, plastic frames, baby! That’s the new eyeglasses must!
So who have we here? Simon Baker, Paul Bettany, Zachary Quinto, Johnny Depp, Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci, Daniel Craig, Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, without forgetting the classic nerdy glassed Woody Allen! You may think different, so I really want to hear your side of the story: do you think thick black (dark or horn) rimmed eyeglasses are the new eyewear must or just a counter culture manifestation picked up by the famous masses? (the pictures were graciously provided by 1, 2, 3, 4)

I also wear glasses when I am not wearing my contacts and I prefer the funky plastic frames 100 %.
I love when men wear these types of frames its just rather nifty and sexy, almost Clark Kentish and Malcolm Xish in a way. : )
My brother just got a new funky pair and they look great on him! : )
This is delightful to gaze at these men of style Kpriss! : )
Yeah, let’s see how long before you grow tired of this fashion. You think they look great? Let’s ask you in another 2 years and let’s see what you say then.
I’m sure frames with personality like these ones will always be liked. They’re way more interesting than a closet full of titanium slick frames or those with no visible frames other than the behind the ear ones (which are, again, slick and metallic).
You have to wear them anyway, so what’s the point in hiding them or pretending they’re not there? Got it? flaunt it! … that’s what I always thought
I have always liked nice frames like this on men, so Dotdot I do not think that is going to change for me. : )
I like frames and always have. I wear a pair at the moment so timeless: got them almost 20 years ago! In need for renovation tho. About these ones it’s kinda tiresome everyone and their dog wear these ones of late. Late ’80’s/early ’90’s everyone wore the tiny round glasses remember? :)
