Angelina Jolie’s Louis Vuitton Core Values Ad Campaign By Annie Leibovitz

The long awaited ad campaign from Louis Vuitton starring Angelina Jolie is officially out. The Core Values campaign photographed by Annie Leibovitz with Angelina is placed in Cambodia, in the Siem Reap province (Angelina’s eldest son, Maddox, is from Cambodia and the actress discovered the country while filming her first set of Tomb Raider adventures).

A very special interview is also set to accompany the print campaign. The reports say that although the Louis Vuitton Alto bag Angelina is carrying was discontinued, it will most certainly be produced again (and a certified best seller, since Angelina is carrying it). But that’s not the most important or interesting thing the reports state. Check this and tell me what you think – honest typo or more?

[…] an interview with Jolie that will be posted later in the month. In it, she is expected to discuss how her visit to Cambodia was a life-changing experience, awakening her to the plight of Third World countries. She adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from Cambodia and she and husband Brad Pitt established the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which is active in community development and conservation in the country.

So now this adoption is used as exploitation? Right! If someone wakes me up at night and ask how it the Jolie-Pitt started I tell it all correct with my eyes still closed and then I continue my sleep.

OMG I didnt realize Angelina Jolie discovered Cambodia…As for her ad I wonder just how many of us could afford to wear that bag.. She and her fake husband Brad Pitt pretend to be so concerned for the poor people of the world yet they travel like royalty and flaunt their wealth.. I cant stand either of them.. I feel for the kids who they have chosen to bring in to their weird world.

My, my such anger.
Really how different are they from any other actors?
They donate money to different causes, they just gave a half a million to the Joplin tornado victims, and they help.
I do not see any reason to hurl pure disdain at them. You may not like their films but to say that they pretend to be concerned for the poor? Really? Saying that is way harsh and a tad janky.
She said it was a life changing experience going to Cambodia, it opened her eyes to some of the blights and sadness of the world. Much like George Clooney, Sean Penn, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates,Madonna and Oprah. They are not by any means perfect or better than any one else but you know what? I applaud anyone trying to do something positive
As for the bag…it is LV, they are never ever inexpensive. It is a luxury brand!
End of rant! : )

Sorry Kpriss for my rant. I am just sick to my back teeth of people being negative and angry when someone famous and or wealthy tries to do something positive. Oh and one does not need wealth to do something positive! Any one can and everyone should! : )

#4 mdinah on 06.14.11 at 9:13 am

Yep Ellington!!! I so much agree with you again. I make mine your words.

“I feel for the kids who they have chosen to bring in to their weird world.” oh YES, definetely YES! it would be much better just to leave those chidren growing up in an orphanage, you know? :-/BIG sarcasm..

How insensitive people can be…if Angelina didnt use her fame for the causes she believes she would be called a cold blooded b*tch. If she does she is accused of doing for self promotion…
When I see this kind of criticism I always remember the tale of the fox which can’t reach the grapes…

#5 kpriss on 06.14.11 at 9:29 am

@ajginger – it’s true they’re everywhere – but at least they’re trying to do something different. Look at Kim Kardashian – she’s everywhere too – only she always tries to turn that into her own advantage (and pocket benefit).

@americanmom – I wonder – if they took the subway and traveled with low cost – would that make them saints? The kids are well taken care of, well educated and I’m really not tempted to judge them (Angelina and Brad) so severely. If they bought their goods from walmart, would that make them better parents or better human beings?

@Ellington – no need to say sorry, I completely understand your sadness! If they kept their money only to buy castles or lofts around the world, what then? I’m totally with you there – at least they try to do something positive!

I see the Aj/Bp Pr peeps are on the job today… Yes lets all give kudos to a women who has used motherhood as a means to revamp her creepy past and a man who cheated on his wife….Cheating is cheating regardless of what your name is…. The BIG difference between them and those other stars you mentioned is they don’t advertise their giving, we never read about how much money they give and they don’t use their kids for gain. As for the money they gave to Joplin.. That is ONE house in my neighborhood. count that please… ONE…… Giving that much to a third world country in order to adopt is one thing but here in the states it is nothing more than a drop in the bucket..She is making millions for this one ad…. all going to charity? Maybe it is better to leave the kids in the country they were born in and support the orphanage and all the kids who live there instead of taking one and exploiting it to make yourself look like someone other than what you are..

@Americanmom,
I am not an AJ/BP peep. I do like some of their films but I am by no means a sycophant.
So a half a million is the cost of one house in your neighbourhood, well that is nice, and you are blessed to live in such a place.
I would not say she used motherhood to revamp her creepy past. I think that she simply grew up… and changed like some of us.

And as for the cheating… if Jennifer Aniston has gotten over it, do you not think you should also, because when you get right down to it… it is none of your business. Cheating on a husband, wife, friend, girlfriend or boyfriend happens and it is not pleasant to be the one cheated on. But sadly it does happen, and it is best to move on, because would one really want to stay with someone in their life who would do that?
Please stop with the hate and the vitriol. It just makes you look bad, and I do not really think that is who you are.
This is a friendly blog. No Hate allowed! : )

And he/she who is without sin cast the first stone.

Pax to you and yours. : )

My criticism on this ad-campaign is not hatred. The photo looks great. I only wondered why it is necessary to start again about the adoption of Maddox in 2002 and this time for an ad-campaign. I see that as exploitation. Angelina and this particularly bag would be fine without this story being used again. That was all.

Many people donate to charity whether they are rich or poor. I admire and love them all for doing so. Speaking for myself? With pain in my heart I think I have to cut back on some charities I support myself for 2012 and why? Because the current economy, the many, many cut backs, the major increasing costs of our health care leaves me with no other choice……:(((

#9 mdinah on 06.14.11 at 1:04 pm

jinjer,it makes sense talking on adoption given the name of the campaign is THE CORE VALUES.
other stars before her had talked about THEIR goals in life. if she is focused on adoption and helping the 3rd world it makes sense to talk about it without being inaccurately accused as opportunist as Americanmom did. What did you expect her to talk about? her beauty? her hot nights with Brad?

#10 keiko on 06.14.11 at 2:22 pm

This photo is stellar – but I don’t believe Angelina has no makeup on – no way!

#11 ajginger on 06.15.11 at 5:33 am

mdinah, oh sure it make sense but…there’s a “but” you see! Adoption is a private matter! Millions of unknown people do the same thing as they do. Why is it always about her or themselves?
I thought Angelina is ambassador for the UNHCR. On her own request. She is supposed to be a humanitarian and do her job for which she asked herself. So in this hard times for refugees wouldn’t it have been more appropriate to pay attention to that job since it is about the Core Values? I guess LV wouldn’t get such a great ad campaign out of that problem with such a stellar photo? Less romantic. After all they have to sell their luxury goods right? This story sells better I guess. Now call it hate, I don’t care. I say it is criticism. Because I read and see on tv every day how this problem increase in a fast tempo.

Another one mentioned for LV’s Core Values is Bono. U2 is headliner at the upcoming Glastonbury Festival. They want lots of money for their performance. Over the top. Young people yet protested against this gig. I applaud them since they have a good point. U2, especially Bono, does not pay that many taxes in their own country Ireland. Ireland in deep financial trouble. But the band has their financial business in countries which lower taxes. Bono and The Edge lives in castles in the south of France. Not that far from the family Jolie/Pitt’s €35 million castle, in renovation at the moment. I can imagine them visiting each other talking about “core values”.

#12 ajginger on 06.15.11 at 5:36 am

I read my piece a few times….I took a deep breath and clicked on submit. I never hold back when it comes to my opinions. So also not in this case. There is difference between hate and criticism. I say it again…..

#13 keiko on 06.15.11 at 5:54 am

I thought the Core Value campaign was about Louis Vuitton & how travel can lead to self discovery? Therefore Angelina is recounting how travelling to Cambodia changed her life – a journey of self discovery.

#14 americanmom on 06.15.11 at 6:24 am

To the person who replied to my comment. Is it not my right to state my opinion about my own “CORE VALUES”? Who are you to say to me that I should not make a comment because my values and your own seem to be on opposite sides? I find it laughable that you would say that those who are without sin cast the first stone about two people who have stated that they do not believe there is a God, they proved that when they decided that in order to get what they want they stomp on the hearts of others casting them aside like they do not matter. While it is true that other stars donate their time and money to good causes no one else seems to put it out there in the public like AJ does and she is her own PR person so she leaks this info to the press and people like you fall all over her like she walks on water. My core values are offended by her making millions of dollars to shoot an ad of a luxury item that costs as much money as the people of the country she says she loves so much will NEVER EVER earn in their entire lifetimes. If you don’t like what I have to say I am sorry but don’t go judging me, no one made you the blog police and I don’t care what you think anyway since you seem to be as warped as the two of them are.

#15 Ellington on 06.15.11 at 7:48 am

@americanmom I was not judging you, I was asking you not to be so hateful, and you said nothing of your own core values what so ever. You were judging AJ and BP. And it is moot whether or not AJ and BP believe in God or not, when Jesus spoke he was speaking to ALL OF US! Believers or not. And when you think of it it is really good advice to follow. We have all sinned or done some wrong and no one is perfect.
One can state an opinion without hate, just as ajginger has done.
I am not the blog police but I am tired of people saying mean and hateful things. Have a difference of opinion yes, it can be healthy and promote an interesting discourse, but to just spout anger and hate it just cheapens what one may have to say to the point where they just sounds like a crank.

Now you stoop so low as to hurling insults at me by calling me warped? And you are judging me. I have not called you names nor have I insulted you, but you seem unable to express yourself without doing so, and that is really too bad.
What is wrong with you? Why are you so angry, so full of hate?Did someone hurt you so badly that you feel the need to lash out?
As my brother would say: “Who pissed in your cornflakes?”
Oh and never ever say sorry when you do not mean it, it cheapens the true meaning behind the sentiment.

#16 kpriss on 06.15.11 at 8:12 am

@keiko sure she’s not without makeup! They got it all wrong – makeup and husband! Official reports – you’d think they’d pay attention, at least when it comes to something as sensitive as this…

@americanmom – it’s too bad you have to sort all your issues out here. It’s a fun place to be, we’re all enjoying ourselves and we’re here because we love entertaining and we love to entertain ourselves. Angelina is just an entertainer like so many others. We, on the outside, we only see bits and pieces, we’re barely catching a glimpse of the true life they’re leading, so who are we to judge and to call out with such certainty who they are and why they do what they do? What we see and think they do?

For what it’s worth, Angelina donated all the money she was paid with for this ad to charity. Posing as a saint or being one, the end result is the same in this case: somewhere, someone needed something really bad and Angelina’s money can now provide that for them. Medicine, food or shelter, something can be done, a small difference, with that money she donated. And by all means, it’s not she who makes such big waves from her charities – it is us. We all want to know what she did, what she bought with her money and what she could have invested in instead.

And so what if she makes a big deal out of it? Good for her / them! It’s called publicity! I’d like to see how these charities could support themselves without publicity! How they can manage to raise all the necessary funds without people even knowing they exist!

@ajginger and Ellington – I’m sorry for americanmom, I think your brother was right, Ellington! ;) this is the perfect case of cornflakes drama!

oh, and Bono? puuhhleaaase! I’m so over him and his sanctity! Preaching one thing and doing another! Bono supersaintstar. Core Values. Sure. Big names who bring big bucks. That’s the core value of this campaign after all.

#17 ajginger on 06.15.11 at 8:41 am

Kpriss and Ellington, thank you for understanding my point(s). Even if you don’t agree you two get it I am not here to hate….I have strong opinions though and I guess you two know that by now after so long. :)

I leave it to this now; I said enough, I made my point(s). We can not go on fighting, at least I can’t alos since today is a sad today for Europe as a whole with the fights in Athens that feels almost like a civil war….:((

#18 mdinah on 06.15.11 at 11:15 am

@ americanmom:I am always surprised to see how people who usually put God in their discurse are the ones so full of hatred…
@jinjer: I dont call it hate, at all. you exposd your point of view in a articulate and respectfull way. I disagree with you but I respect your opinion:-)
@Ellington & Kpriss: gurls, you nailed it. Un par de cojones!!!

#19 americanmom on 06.15.11 at 12:53 pm

Then you need to go back and re read the comments here because It wasn’t me who first brought God into this.. Brad Pitt has publicly stated he doesn’t believe in God.. The last time I looked the American flag was still flying in my yard which gives me the right of FREEDOM OF SPEECH… You all may not like that but too bad because I have every RIGHT to express my OPINION as you do… I did NOT respond to any one here until after the bully pulpit attacked me and my right to my own opinion ,calling me angry or full of hate…and those who are without sin ect… So you tell me who is the one filled with hate????? You all sit on your key board making assumptions about strangers and my information is based on what Ms Jolie has stated in public about her life her life style her beliefs..and you call that hate??? I think some “CORE VALUES” are lacking and I stand by that…

#20 Ellington on 06.15.11 at 1:05 pm

People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid.

@mom: You are mixing oranges and apples. You certainly have all the rights to express your opinions.
It is THE WAY you choose to do that that sounded awry,at least for this blog. You know , being a man, sometimes I do feel out of place here .it is a mom blog.Kpriss try to build an enviroment that is not aggressive or full of hate, like so many other blogs.
You see, we disagree in our opinions here, we are humans after all, different worlds BUT we do it in a civilized way.
I don’t have the time to follow hollywood stars’ lives. You have? Great for you. But be aware you only know a fraction of what they want us(you) to know.
In this comment section you were the one who included God, not Brad Pitty. and casually your words sounded a BIT dissonant with goodness.
I hate to sound patronizing but I am tired of people only seeing the negative aspect of things. I lived in USA in my teen years and I loved your country and your people and there I learned an important lesson for life:
“each pancake has two sides”.
